when to register

Hello ladies :) just wondering when everyone is planning on registering? I was thinking around a year before? I know my fam is waiting and I get a lot of house stuff already!! TIA

we registered right away
i dont think there is a right or wrong time to do it. we found that there were a few people that gave us engagement gifts off of our registry (even though we didnt have an e-party)
if you register far in advance just know to keep checking your registry as some items get discontinued

We already registered for a few things b/c we're having an engagement party and figured if people wanted to give a gift, they could get something off the registry.

We are going to go next fall, our wedding is next April so I wanted to wait until newer household items come out :) fh and I are not living together yet so idk what I would want in out house just yet, we are looking forward to doing the registries :)

We registered right away which was a year and a couple months before the wedding. It was fun and exciting and people got us gifts but the one problem we had was things start to discontinue. My china was discontinued by the time my shower rolled around and when the wedding hit, it was all off the website/out of the store.

I would say maybe register about 9 months before the wedding. It was something I wish we would have waited on but still fun at the same time. If people ask what to get you think of something off the top of your head.

OR if you want to start, start now but only do things that you don't think will effect your design of your house. Register now for appliances or bedroom sets but I would hold off on china, plate patterns, steamware, etc. You don't want to get 6 sets of china and then it gets discontinued.

We registered for maybe 30 things for our e-party that we knew we could easily store for a yr and a half! (blender, plates, etc.). We will register for the shower muchhh later when we are all settled in our new place and actually sort out what we NEED and WANT. One thing to remember as some have already pointed out - sooo many items get discontinued (espec towels and sheets and stuff like that!) so if you have time to spare you might as well wait it out!! HTH!

I am booked for 9/29/12 and have already registered for a few things.

I am having an engagement party next month, so wanted to have a few things registered in case people insisted on an actual gift (I want $$$, lol)

I think if you want gifts for your engagement party, you should register right away, if you dont register, most people will give cash, and you'll get a few random gifts. I'm registering now and I have to make sure its done before my shower which is in July or August.

we didn't want to register for our e-party so we're waiting until the end of summer early fall. It would work out to be about 6-8 months before the wedding

I started 8months before & finished a week after registering since we know the things we need being were living together already & I've been adding & deleting things bc of reading reviews

I only had 9 months from my engagement to my wedding day. We got engaged this past Labor Day Weekend and I think we registered in Oct/Nov, but I don't see anything wrong with registering as soon as you want! People wanted to buy us engagement gifts and didn't know what to get!

I already registered, it's a little more than a year off. but no one really knows about it, it was just one other thing to get done so I did it when i was off from work

we registered right away because people had asked for our engagement party. We got a significant amount of gifts off of it for the E-party which was exciting.

We registered in Feb and our wedding is in September... but we waited until FH was visiting so that we could do it together. Otherwise we would have done it earlier.
