Ladies, I have no clue....and everyone keeps asking me when I am registering!
SO....is there a time frame when you are supposed to register????? 6 months before? I think my shower is going to be in June (more than 1 person has slipped the info to me even though I DONT WANNA KNOW!)

Thanks!

ETA: If anyone has any suggestions of good places to register, it would be appreciated.

Re: When to register????

I did mine the week after I got engaged... i was too excited. I would do it soon. Why put it off. It's so much fun. Like shopping without the guilt.

Re: When to register????

I registered about a month or two ago. I dont think there is a time when its too early. Plus if you do it now, there is time to add or delete any items on the lists as you get closer to the shower.

Re: When to register????

I think it is fine to start registering any time, but I suggest you talk to the bridal registry people at the store you choose and tell them when your wedding it. Ask them if they suggest holding off on certain items. Sometimes, certain items change depending on the season or are discontinued and it can get a little annoying. The people from the bridal registry department should be able to advise you on what to wait on and what is fine to register for ahead of time. Also, ask them if you receive a notification from the store when something on your registry is discontinued, so you know to change it on your registry. Certain stores are MUCH better about this then others and that may impact where you register or when you register at a certain store.

I registered really early and so far my flatware choices have been discontinued twice!! I just couldn't believe that the new set I chose after the first was discontinued, got discontinued also! Apparently, I have weird taste, since no one else seems to be buying the flatware I choose. Anyway, I can't stand to look at another fork, so I am just not dealing with it until much closer to the wedding. The thought of picking another pattern now and having it discontinued again is most unappealing. I even told FH to forget it - we will eat with plastic!

Hope this helps! All in all it is a fun process. And doing it in advance lets you have time to really play around before you decide what you want on your final list.

Re: When to register? and WHERE??? Suggestions, please....

we've already registered at crate and barrel for some stuff, but haven't looked at the registry in ages!! also opened a registry at bloomie's, but haven't done a thing for that one. i'm thinking i'll also do bed, bath and beyond for the kitchen gadgets (hoping to get a bunch of those!).

i've really got to get moving on this!

also, fh wants to register at best buy for his dream plasma tv... i told him we could consider it, but if we end up with only that (cause it's so darn expensive!) then i would be extremely upset

Re: When to register? and WHERE??? Suggestions, please....

I registered right away beacuse of our e-party. I would highly suggest Crate and Barrel. They do a thing once a month where they close the store on Sunday Mornings and invite only engaged couples to register. It was so much fun. They had tons of food out and was so easy. I think Fortunoffs does it too. I'm registered there and Bed Bath and Beyond as well.

Re: When to register? and WHERE??? Suggestions, please....

We registered at Fortunoffs...You do not need an appt...I would recommend getting started soon. I took a long time for me to register because I did a little each time I went. The downside of going this early is that a few things can get discontinued. Good Luck!

Not for Fortunoff's or BB&B. But to do the Sunday Engagements at Crate and Barrel I had to call to make an appointment.

Re: When to register? and WHERE??? Suggestions, please....

When one of my bridesmaids was getting married, I recommended that she register before Christmas, that way if people weren't sure what to get her, they had a whole list of things she wanted. Now that it's my turn to get married, she reminded me of the advice.

As for the 'where', that's personal choice. We have guests coming from all over, so we are registering at Macy's for china/crystal, and we already registered at Kohl's. I did a lot of comparison between all the stores that are national. They have the same brands and products as Crate and Barrell and their prices are usually more than 1/2 of C&B too.
