When to send out invites

I am confused. I keep hearing 6-8weeks before the wedding but if your RSVP is 4 weeks before doesn't that give people only 2 weeks to decide, make arrangements, and get back to you?
OK my wedding is Sept 10, my RSVP date is August 20th. I was thinking of send them like July 1st. Is that too soon?

I am sending my invites out exactly one month before the RSVP date, which is exactly one month before the wedding. You can send them out early but I think people tend to forget about things if they have a really long time to respond...

I think July 1st is good to send them out. I'm getting married on Nov 4th. Will send the invites out by middle of August with a RSVP date of Oct 1st (in case of late responses).

i sent mine out on April 15 for a rsvp date of june 2. which was exactly one month prior to my wedding.
i did this cause we are getting married on a holiday weekend.

otherwise, i would have sent them out may 2.

I think you could do July 20 or the week of if your RSVP date is August 20th. I am a little confused too but that's the idea I had....

I think July 1st is fine....especially if you have anyone that doesn't live locally, you need to give the USPS time to deliver....My RSVP date is July 31 and I'm looking to get my invites in the mail by June 15th

Oh wow. We're having the SAME debate in my house for the same wedding date. My RSVP date is weeks earlier though.

I think I'm going to lose though. They want it 8 weeks before the wedding day.

My wedding date is July 15th.
I sent out my invites on May 6th with a n RSVP date of June 10th.

I don't believe its too soon. As long as you have them I would send them out. I gave ample time for these people to prepare. JMO but your RSVP is Aug 20. Isn't it usually 1 month before.

Our wedding is 9/3, and our RSVP date is 8/12......don't know why we did it so late. But, we are sending out invites around July 1st - many OOT guests and they need to make arrangements.
