When to send out save the dates and registry items.

I am getting married September 18, 2011 and I was wondering on when I should send out the save the dates as well as the wedding registry

I was actually thinking of sending them out a year in advance, but is that to long, or should it be sooner then that.

i think you should send them out about a year to nine months before the wedding.

and how do you plan on sending out registry stuff?? with the STDs?? i would just send the info on your shower invites...

I would send them out in November/December. I also wouldn't put my registry information in there. Why don't you put your wedding website on the STD's this way when people go to the website they can see that you've registered. Otherwise it's like saying look we're engaged, buy us a gift, JMO.

I was thinking of putting the registry info on my website and sending it with the save the dates. Both great ideas, thanks for the help.

I sent my STD's a week after my one year mark. As for your registry cards, I'd just send them with shower invites, and for now put the info on your website, and the web address on your STD's.

My girlfriend sent out here STD's for her Oct 09 wedding back in Fall/Winter of 07!!! Talk about an eager beaver!! That poor magnet has collected more dust on my fridge in 2 yrs... LOL

I would send them out b/t Sept & Nov of 2010. Also, the registry info should go on the Bridal Shower invites.

You can send out the stds a year before. Only put the registry info on the shower invite because technically someone else is throwing the shower for you so it's okay etiquette for them to share the gift-giving info. Just my opinion, but NEVER EVER put registry info on something you're mailing out yourself or it will seem like a rude solicitation for gifts. If people wnat to get you something earlier (ie as an engagment gift, or for the holidays), they will find out word-of-mouth or you could post it on a wedding website.

Definitely wait until your around 10 months before your wedding to send out the STD's. As for the registry info send it out with your shower invite, thats how it's usually done.
