When to tell family

Hi girls.
We just got a positive preg. test the other day. We are going to the doctor on Wednesday. How long did you guys wait to tell their friends and family? I'm bursting at the seams.

First - CONGRATS!!!!!! What wonderful news!

When we first found I was pregnant we told family and friends. I know they say to wait for the end of the first trimester. But when I miscarried at 10 wks, I was so glad to have the support of family and friends. I think it is a personal decision - one that does not have a wrong answer.

Congratulations!
I agree there is no right or wrong time. It's when it feels right for you and your husband. I am 7 weeks pregnant and told my sister at 4. We are waiting to tell family and co-workers at the end of the first trimester. Good luck to you and do whatever feels right.

Re: When to tell family

Thank you. Right now I am 4 weeks, so I am going to try to wait until at least 8 weeks, but I guess I'll have a better idea of what I want to do after I see the doctor.

Congrats!!! I think it's totally up to you when you tell.
I could not hold it in if my life depended on it. Right after I told DH, we told our immediate families. I figure if I miscarried, I would want my family to know and to support me.

Re: When to tell family

I waited until I was 12 weeks. Which for us was right around xmas. My parents had come to visit for the holidays and were here 2 whole days b4 x-mas. I waited until xmas morning to give them there present. (Talk about agony!!) And they spent the rest of the day calling all the relatives telling them they were going to grandparents!!

Congrats...

We told only a select few immediately... the people who we felt would be supportive if something terrible happened.

Congrats. Welcome to the mommy-to-be club.
My best friend knew the night before I even took our real test But I told my parents and siblings 3 days after the BFP. We told my in-laws about 10 days later when we went up to MA on an already planned trip.

I gave my parents and my MIL a baby photo frame with a piece of paper inside the photo area that said 'Photo coming November 2003'

I also told a few close friends within 2 weeks. I KNEW that if something did happen I would need those people to help me thru it.

Co-workers were told on week 6 or so since I had a 2 hour commute each way and I needed to work from home some days.
