So at what point in the evening do you tip the vendors? Before, just to get it all out of the way or after (which makes most sense to me)?

I would tip the florist probably when they delivery the bouquets to the house since you won't see them after that.
Everyone else, I would hand out envelopes towards the end of the evening.

We are tipping the florist after the setup as that will be early...but the rest of the envelopes will be with our best man who will distribute near the end of the night...this way if something goes awry, we can adjust the tips... You never know.

we tipped everyone after (officiant right before she left after the ceremony, ceremony musicians right before they left, everyone else right before we left the rh)

Def at the end of the night. The tip is based on how good of a vendor they are. How would you know till the end of the night?
We had our tip envelope set up so that there was a range. A bare minimum we would give and the extra we would give if they were really good.
