My doctor said mine won't be until 20 wks, unless there is a prob. When was yours??? I feel that on the babycenter board everyone is getting u/s at like 6 weeks! It is frustrating that I won't get to see my baby for like 3 more months!

I had my first one at 7 weeks, then at 20 weeks. Usually you get one around 8 weeks, just to make sure things are there and going well, and then at 20 weeks for all the anatomy stuff. More technical than at 7 weeks. That's weird that your first one isn't until 20 weeks? I would check around. If needed, get a different doctor. I've never heard of that?

Actually, I have never known anyone to have a 7 week or so u/s. Hmmm. Unless the doctor suspects a problem, I don't think this is necessary. JMO of course. Mine was at 20 weeks. I ended up having another one at 37 weeks to check the amniotic fluid and the baby's position. Too many u/s aren't good.
I know it seems like a long wait, but it will be here before you know it!

I had my first one at 9 1/s weeks & that was internal.
My BF is not getting her first one until she's about 20 weeks. Her doctor said 'It's better because the baby is developed more. When you do it early all you really see is a heart beating.'

I had my first one at 6 weeks in teh doctors office, when my urine test came back positive and I swore I couldn't be PG. The doc said, come, let's take a look.
I had a second one at my next visit, at 9 weeks because it was my first real appointment and the first time my DH was with me. So he got to see it as well :) My next one will be at 20 weeks.

I HAD MY FIRST AT 7 WEEKS 4 DAYS. It was to confirm the age of the baby and make sure everything was ok so far. Second was 19 weeks

I had my first one at about 7 or 8 weeks. Then I believe the next one is usually 20 weeks. We were able to get another one at 14 weeks because the dr wasn't able to find the heartbeat. We found out when he did the sonogram that it was because the baby had its back turned.

I had my first at 9 weeks. I think you should tell the doctor that you are not comfortable waiting until 20 weeks and want to make sure things look okay now.

There is an important reason to have an early ultrasound- for dating. Especially for women who don't have regular periods, an early ultrasound is the best way to date the pregnancy. Measuring the baby when it is like 6-12ish weeks is a confirmation that your due date based on last period is accurate. At 20 weeks, they don't use the baby's size to calculate due date unless there is a big discrepancy between measured size and expected due date.

I heard the baby's heartbeat at 13 weeks or so with the doppler.

MY best friend just heard her babies heartbeat on Tuesday. (My son & I went with her it was so great!!) I'm sure you'll get to hear it your next visit.

I had my 1st one at 7 weeks and then to the hospital for a 2nd one at 12 weeks because the doctor's date and my date was really off...

We had our first sonogram at 6weeks. Then heard the heart beat at 10 weeks. Our next sonogram is at 18 weeks (which is only a few weeks away). I think in my personal opinion you should insist on getting a sonogram or go to another doctors office.
