When will more homes be coming on the market?

ehhh...things are so dead right now and I want a house in the worst way. I was thinking maybe April.

I would say April 1st things start to pick up when people with children are putting their homes for sales just in time for school to end. DH and I started looking the first week of April 2004 and we found a house by the end of May and closed on July 1.

Definately in the spring. people don't like to show their houses when the weather is bad.

we were told by our realtors that the spring selling season can start as early as february...well we haven't seen things kick into high gear just yet in jersey...

I agree, I think things pick up in the spring. If you have a realtor lookig for you he/she will find houses as soon as they are listed, waaay before they are posted online or in the newspapers.

I think a lot of people wait for nice weather, and for the school year to be closer to the end. People do not like to move thier kids mid school year. I would say march/april, it will really pick up.

the 'average' time from contract to closing is about 60 days. w/ that in mind, i would think the market will really pick up in april and continue until june. as others have mentioned, parents want to wait until the school year has ended to move (late june - august).

I have been noticing that there are more houses coming onto the market lately...I think by the first week in April, you will see it really picking up

i'm hoping soon, it's very fustrating. but i did notice there seems to be more open houses lately.

Probably April or May.

There hasn't been any exlosion in the areas we are looking....so I hope it picks up soon!
