When will this phase end?

When will this phase end?

Lately Aidan has taken to being completely impossible to change or dress. He arches his back, twists and turns, flails the arms and legs, swats at me and throws whatever I have given to him to distract his attention right back at me.

Its like wrestling an alligator, an agitated one!

He's 8 1/2 months.... so BTDT moms is there an end in sight???!!!!

My little man was the same way. Sorry to say at almost 12 months, he still hates it.

I feel for you.. jillian does the same thing.. but i give her her changing toy and it distracts her.. make it a game.. I sing to her when we are getting changed .. i also give her a piece of her clothing to play with ... it actually works

My son still does it and he'll be 13 months on Friday. Sometimes it helps to lay him on the couch and then he can watch TV. It doesn't help all the time, but sometimes is great. He gives me such a hard time in the morning when I'm late for work of course!

Andrew does it too. Lately, when I change him, I give him his toothbrush and a dab of toothpaste on it and he's in heaven. He loves licking the toothpaste and brushing his teeth! If I am not chaning him on his changing table, then I give him the diaper to hold or his comb which I keep in the diaper bag. He loves playing with these type of things.

So common! Patrick was one of those I love to be naked babies (& as you know he still does). Aidan is at the age where there is so much to be done he doesn't want to waste the time sitting still. It will get better!!

Trish, I tried your toothbrush idea this morning too since all the usual distractions had stopped working. He seemed to like it and heck... killing two birds with one stone!
Does Andrew use a little big boy toothbrush? I still am using the Baby Oragel Cleaner with the finger brush. I was going to ask the Dr at his 9mth appt about 'real' toothpaste or the like since there is no fluoride in the other stuff.

Kate, don't worry, I can't even get clothes on anymore. If it were summer, I would let her just go in a onsie or something. The extra toy doesn't work anymore for us, I remember those days where there was an easy distraction.

You can't use real toothpaste yet, because if they swallow too much, it's dangerous for them. Do you give him tap water? Do you have him on vitamins? Either would be good enough for Flouride.

No I don't give him tap, usually Poland Spring. I keep forgeting to call the Water Dept to see if we even have fluoride anyhow.
I bought a bottle of Nursery Water a few months ago, but I swear it made him spit up even more than he does so I stopped. I would be willing to try that again since the spitting up is much better now.

And no vitamins... the Dr. never gave us any and when I mentioned it we had already switched to formula so they said he didn't need it.

I got Andrew a real, little baby toothbrush with handle to use so he can hold it. I think its made by Gerber and it came in a pack with toothpaste for babies/children, i.e., no fluoride..... It's not even a paste, its like a gooey gel. He likes it though. I still use the finger thingy, but he likes to do it himself, so I give him the toothbrush and he goes at it!

No vitamins here either. I just give Gabriella tap water.

Here's a link where you can check the quality of your water.

Amber is doing the same thing - twisting, turning, you name it. It makes me insane, especially when I'm running late. The toy doesn't work anymore because she just chucks it. I keep threatening to call Daddy in and tell him she's being bad but she just looks at me like 'Make my day!' Like she has a clue of what I'm talking about
