When would you start to really worry???
I might have a bit of a situation on my hands, and want to get a consensus of what you would do or when you would start to react.
I ordered my Venetian Masks Monday night, after business hours, from a website that supposedly has a shop down in Miami. I had googled them prior, and they showed up on several wedding websites with glowing reviews because they're popular with high end masks, even Martha Stewart weddings, so I thought no problem.
After I placed my order and looked at the image of what I ordered more carefully, I realize I ordered the wrong style for the small favor sized masks. The descriptions were ambiguous, and the website didn't label each image with which style it was. I sent an email to the customer service address asking that they make the change before processing the order, and to please confirm that they would do so.
The next day, after not receiving a reply email back by late afternoon, I decided to call the number just to follow up. It rang several times, and then went in to the general voicemail. I left a message reiterating my email, and asked to please be called back.
All day yesterday passed with neither a phone call or email in return.
I tried calling again this morning, and once again it went in to voicemail. I didn't bother leaving a message, but instead sent another email, this time also copying in the sales address, the webmaster address, and the PR address, figuring SOMEONE would have to get back to me of 4 people.
After a little more research, I'm starting to get worried that they packed up shop. The website copyright is 2005, and the most recent articles I've found online are dated 2007. There is no listing for them at all on the better business bureau.
The checkout was through Paypal, so I've already paid for these masks which now I'm not sure if I'll even ever get. They certainly weren't cheap either...I'm usually very frugal with wedding stuff, but this was like my one splurge item, because it was something I really wanted and thought was so perfect for us. Paypal lets you dispute the charge within 45 days of purchase...so technically I haev until August 27th to try to get my money back.
What do you think? What would you do? Short of hopping a flight to Miami, what can I do if they don't pick up the only published phone number and don't respond to their emails???![]()
