When you brought your bundle of joy home, what did u do/think first?
I am NOT PG, and NOT TTC, but this question has popped in my head lately, with all the news of babies being born...
I think I would like get home, and be like...now what?! LOL...
But I think is becuase I am always on the go..cannot sit still....
But, I do hear from everyone that the mommy instinct sets in as soon as the baby is born, and you just KNOW what to do.

Well, you soend most of the time feeidng and changing diapers, I came home and put new sheets on my bed, threw a load of wash on and unpcked my bags, and then it was time to feed! I can't sit still either, I like to jump right back into it, dishes, laundry, favorite TV shows. It's a bit overwhelming though. I remember my MOM saying 'How do you know how to do this?', I mean I was a Nanny for a family a few summers but never for a newborn, it just comes naturally.

I must say - it did not come naturally to me at all. When we got home from the hospital I was totally overwhelmed and had a case of the 'baby blues'. I especially got really anxious and stressed at night...it was so odd. And I probably broke down crying at least 4 times each day for the first couple of weeks! Thankfully my husband and my Mom were very helpful and supportive, and I got over it and was able to start really enjoying being a mother. Now I think back and cannot believe I felt that way! I am ready for #2!

I was really nervous when James came home, after being in the NICU for 72 days. He also came home on Oxygen, and a Pulsox machine. So I spent the 1st few days just watching him. I was afraid to move from his bassinet.

Definitely true in my case. The second my feet got in the doorway, I was in take charge mode; put the laundry away, unpacked, got the baby set up, went through the bills. Hubby was like 'Don't you want to sleep??'. No way, I didn't want PP setting in so bad that I could not function. As it was, I had bouts of it during the days but not bad. And yes, instincts do take over. I was the most intimidated person by a baby ever. I never really changed a diaper or made up bottles, etc. They really should offer a class on family maintenance in school or something.

You were the most intimidated person by a baby, I don't think so, hello you saw me with Amber Maybe you were the second most!!!
For me bring the baby home was a relief but scary and intimitdating too!!! I was happy to be home with just the 3 of us but I knew that so much had to be done and DH had done so much running back and forth to the hospital and work that he didn't have time! Like everyone else instinicts took over and I hit the ground running!

I went straight to bed -- I got no sleep at the hospital!
