When you despise the way you photograph????

When you despise the way you photograph????

What do you plan on doing? I'm in full panic mode about this now because I just got my E pics and the two pics I have managed to remotely like are both far away shots where we're not looking at the camera.

Are you practicing smiling at yourself in the mirror? I am terrified to have sh!teous pics now. and its not the photog because everyone else has fantastic pics, its me.

Any tips?

I've just had to let it go. . .I don't like the way I photograph, either. . .but somehow, the professional did a GREAT job of capturing my better sides. Trust them and you'll look AMAZING!!!

I hate the way I photograph too. I was extremely nervous about the whole picture thing. My sister actually told me I photograph better drunk (not recommended ). My sister is actually a photographer and she told me one thing people who hate to be photographed tend to do is have poor posture and keep there chin down. Make an effort to stand tall head head high (should not be hard to do when you are feeling so pretty and happy) I think on your special day, you will be so excited and so happy you will feel natural and the camera will pick that up. If that doesn't help me then I may take a shot or two lol.

I hate the way I look in pictures too. I only like ones where I am not looking at the camera and not really smiling. I tried to tell my photographer that but he took it as me not like the pictures HE took of me (for our epics) so now im pretty sure he hates me.

In the last year I developed this stupid line on my lip when I smile. I am warning the photographer how much I hate it. Otherwise I am just going to enjoy my day and hope for the best.

I don't like how I photograph either!!!!! I'm wondering if I dare walk down the aisle, without my ugly huge glasses on; I'm prone to falling!!!! That would make a great picture!!!!!! Mary MOB

OK... here is the best piece of advice I've ever received.

Its going to sound silly but it works!

Right before someone takes a pic say the word 'Hi' in your head. You naturally smile when you say the word 'Hi' so it kinda tricks your brain into making you smile. Do it every time you can!!!

It works for me! LOL!

Here are a few more tips that I googled.

Secret No. 1: Turn partially sideways to the camera, planting one foot in front of the other. Point your toe to the camera and place your weight on your back foot.

Secret No. 2: Pull head forward slightly to minimize any appearance of a double chin.

Secret No. 3: Hold arms slightly away from your body. This keeps upper arm flab from flattening out and therefore appearing flabbier (much like thighs do when one sits on a couch).

Secret No. 4: Pull shoulders back, chest forward and gently suck stomach in. Be careful not to suck stomach so far in that your ribs show, thereby causing those who later see the photo to cluck to themselves in a bemused, sing-song voice, 'She's sucking i-in.'

Secret No. 5: If you can get away with it without looking like a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Girl wannabe, try the look away trick. To do this, look away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile just before the camera clicks. Your smile will appear fresh, not frozen. This trick takes practice behind closed, locked doors.

When taking a photo it's also important the photographer does not snap the picture from below. This adds another 20-50 pounds to the 10 pounds automatically and annoying added by the camera. Find out why cameras add 10 pounds in this article by Geek Sugar.

i def know what looks better for me. its also good to find the angle's that look best, but also to talk to your photographer about what you like and dislike. make sure they know so you feel comfortable on the day!

dont worry about it! You are going to be so happy that day you will absolutely photograph well.

Funny story...FH and I were John McCain and Sarah Palin last year for halloween. He overused his creep john mccain smile so much that he couldn't smile regularly! He had to practice so he didn't look so silly!!! I hope it worked! lol

I TOTALLY AGREE with barbie's last comment. my DH takes video's and pics and he told me when we started dating (too late for the pics of my life before him) that pictures are always better from a higher angle. my sisters and i ALL have a little double chin (genetically its TERRIBLE) so we have learned to NEVER let anyone take a picture from below our eye level AT LEAST!! good point!

our photog had us say 'YES!' when he wanted to 'freshen' our smiles during epics. he also told us to 'practice' in the mirror.

I'm terrified because I am FUGLY in pictures. I honestly don't think I'm bad looking in person, contrary to how I come off sometimes...but in pictures, my god, I'm beastly. I honestly don't understand it. I'm going to really study that tips list, because all I need is for the pictures to come out bad (not cuz of photog but my own deformities) and FH flip his shiz that we spent 'so much money' for nothing. I'm assuming I'll be naturally happy on the wedding day haha, so hopefully that will help.
