When you get $$$.....

What do you write in your thank you card? With gifts its easier, ie: 'We cant wait to have you over for omelettes and use our new omelette pan' --but what is a good comment to use for money gifts? I'm trying not to make it so boring!

How about 'Thank you so much for your generous gift?' Is that too boring? Maybe you can personalize the thank you card with a reference to something you shared with the person at the wedding/shower itself, like something you talked about.

You write something like this:

Thank you so very much for sharing our special day with us, and helping to make it unforgettable. We hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Your gift was so generous, and we plan to use the money toward (insert your own idea...our new house/apt., remaining items on registry, new car, etc.) Thank you again for being there.
Love, Bride & Groom

I believe this is a more personalized way to write a thank you for a monetary gift. Most books tell you it's nice to mention how you will use the money, similar to mentioning an actual item in the thank you card.

claud, that sounds nice. any other suggestions.... especially to thank people for giving money BEFORE the wedding (we cant say 'hope you enjoyed yourself' if they didnt come!)

If the guest sends or give money prior to attending the wedding, I would just revise the card to say something like this:

Thank you so very much for sharing in our happiness during this special time. Your gift was so generous, and we plan to use the money toward (insert your own idea...our new house/apt., remaining items on registry, new car, etc.) We are excited that you are able to celebrate with us on the wedding day, and we look forward to seeing you soon. Love, Bride & Groom

...or for someone NOT attending the wedding...

Thank you so very much for sharing in our happiness during this special time. Your gift was so generous, and we plan to use the money toward (insert your own idea...our new house/apt., remaining items on registry, new car, etc.) We are disappointed that you are not able to celebrate with us on the wedding day, but we look forward to seeing you soon. Love, Bride & Groom
