I've heard of doing this too but I don't think you have to. I remember someone telling me every time she gives a wallet she puts $5 in it for good luck.

Everytime I got a wallet it always had either $1 or $5 in it.....when i give one, I do the same.

I was never told a dollar or a specific number, just that it couldn't be empty.

i was told that about a wallet, a purse, and piggy banks
i was also told that when you sell your car you should throw some change in there for good luck...and if you buy a used car and there is change in the seats or the floor you should leave it there for luck.

I've given a bunch of people wallets over the years and never put $ in it---hopefully noone thought I was rude!

I believe in this myself.

DH gave his groomsmen Coach money clips and he stuck $5 in each one for them.

I gave each of my girls a Coach minni skinny and stuck $1 in each of them.
