when you go dress shopping, do you..

Lie about your wedding date? Do you move it up a few weeks to ensure the dress gets in on time?

I didn't lie. Dress stores never miss a wedding date, so no point in having my dress 2 months early. Then it just sits at home? Not worth it.

I bought my dress 14 months before the wedding so I didnt feel i needed to do this. Dress came in a year and then i had 2 months for alterations so was perfect.

OK thanks for the advice. My wedding is 4/10/10 and I hope to have placed an order for a dress by this May. That give me about a year so I don't think I'm cutting it close. I'm not a good liar either so I'm glad I don't have to.

I did...I'm paranoid and it's better to be safe than sorry lol

I just told them that I'm paranoid about it coming in late and I'd like to have it sooner than 6 weeks before. She said that was fine and they'd order it earlier but that the remaining deposit of the dress was due when it arrived. That was fine with me.

I didn't - mine came plenty early. But I guess if you are cutting it close then it's not a bad idea.

I lied by 2 weeks, and felt really stupid about it. I didn't want to do any fittings at all until 2 weeks before the wedding, because I literally was losing weight up until the day. So I lied, and then told them I lied when the dress came in and I didn't want to start fittings yet... they laughed and everything was fine. I ordered my dress 6 months before the wedding. It came in 4 months - 2 months to spare!

Actually thats a good point about the fittings. If you lie about your date then they will schedule your fittings a while before your wedding date. Would you want that? your weight can change ALOT right before your wedding date, doesn't happen to everyone but many women it does happen to. I had my last fitting 2 weeks before the wedding and in the last 2 weeks i dropped quite a few pounds even though i tried very hard not to lose any weight since i had last fitting already. But with so much running around it just happened. If you lie about your date you might have last fitting a month or more before your wedding date and just might need more alterations closer to your wedding and then you are stuck.

I didn't...but I also ordered my dress 1 1/2 years before. It might be a good idea IF you're cutting it close. Otherwise, I dont think its necessary.
