I am so lucky to have my parents paying for the lion's share of our wedding day. I want to get them a nice gift to thank them for all that they have done. I know that there is no magic number, but I have no clue what to spend on this gift. Anyone else in a similar boat care to share their thoughts? Thanks!

Re: When your parents are paying for the wedding
when i was engaged, I was in this situation. I was going to send them on their own second honeymoon to somewhere nice. I hadn't started researching, but I had a budget of about $2,000 - $3,000.

Re: When your parents are paying for the wedding
I am the MOG. My husband and I are splitting the cost of the wedding with the brides family. We are doing this so our children have more money to start their new with. I will miss having my son at home, so if they wanted to thank us, I would love a meal at their new home. Or you could even treat your parents out to dinner. If you feel you need to do more---- do it once a week for a year!

That sounds great. I am in the same boat and the last thing my parents need is anything expensive from us. I would like to give them something as a token of appreciation. Any other thing you can think of as a token?

Re: When your parents are paying for the wedding
I think my dad would be PISSED if I spent major money on something for him and my step-mom, considering they can always do whatever they want (which is why I'm lucky enough to have him helping with the expenses).
I think I need a special more personal idea for something for my dad. I've gotta work on this... thanks for reminding me!

Re: When your parents are paying for the wedding
My mom and dad would be upset if we spent a lot. They are throwing us a wedding to help us out with life. I am trying to think more about something that is personal for them and our relationships.

We are giving my dad a new camera, which he really needs and hopefully will love! We're not 100% sure what we're getting for my mom yet.
