Where are all the pretty (Xmas Decorated) homes to look at ?

Suffolk please

There was a list in the past weekends Newsday of several homes, mostly in Nassau that many people drive by to see, since they go ALL OUT in decorating..

(Has anyone ever been to the ones in Dyker Heights, Blyn??? BREATHTAKING and the best Ive seen yet)...

But we dont feel like traveling so far this year Does anyone know of any known streets/homes in Suffolk where they do lots of pretty decorating every year? We've seen the St.James (off Woodlawn) homes, GORGEOUS.

Any other ones?
We also plan to check out Jones Beach's drive through lights show/setup... ITs fun to hear John Anthony go 'OHHHH OOOHHH'

Re: Where are all the pretty (Xmas Decorated) homes to look at ?

Barbieri Family, 119 Liberty St., Deer Park

He didn't count the bulbs, but Andrew Barbieri, an electrical contractor, says the 50-foot-tall maple tree in front of his home must have more than 5,000 colored lights that constantly change hues. An 8-foot red bow appears to be wrapped around the roof by a pair of elves. A long train chugs on the lawn with animated figures of children as passengers. Many of the moving displays were handmade by Barbieri, including a Christmas storybook about 7 feet high, whose pages slowly turn. Then, there's the Disney tableau: -- Mickey Mouse, Goofy and a host of stuffed animals appear to be ice skating on a rink made of mirrors. Within the garage Santa's workshop busily hums with animated elves. If visitors peer into the Barbieris' living room window, they'll see Mr. and Mrs. Claus and some of their elf workers taking a break. Oh yes, Frosty the Snowman is on the porch reminiscing about the recent snowstorm.

Battaglia Family, 1176 William Floyd Pkwy., Shirley.

The home of Dean and Jean Battaglia boasts 20 inflated figures, among them Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, the Grinch, several snowmen and Santa Claus. Nearby, a line of candy canes brightens the scene, as do illuminated plastic candles and several Christmas trees. Some angels add to the mix. The walkway is lined with figures such as a teddy bear holding gift parcels. The garage, designed to appeal especially to children, offers a Plexiglas window onto a scene that could be from Santa Claus' workshop or a fairyland. Each character moves, bathed in the glow of many lights. Two snow machines are used to enhance the display. The home's second level is festooned with horizontal and vertical rows of lights set off by two large wreaths.

Busick Family, 53 Biltmore Dr., Mastic Beach

Here it's the land of blow-up characters, with 15 of those ubiquitous fairyland denizens being puffed up by fans providing air pressure. Christopher Busick and his girlfriend, Danielle Petkus, say their efforts setting up the display took many days. The inflated figures include Homer Simpson, Santa and his reindeer, the Grinch and a teddy bear. The walkway is flanked by an arch bedecked with candy canes, while the front lawn is home for illuminated plastic figures of elves, Santa and Mrs. Claus, a gingerbread house and a host of others. A Nativity scene also was created by the couple, but since they didn't have room for it on their own grounds, Busick said, 'we borrowed a spot on the neighbor's lawn.'

Kay Family, 15 Onyx Dr., Stony Brook

Large illuminated snowflakes on the roof surrounded by colored lights brighten the above-ground scene. The seasonal spirit created by Debbie and Bob Kay's handiwork is highlighted with Santa and his reindeer, which appear to be soaring toward the roof. They're suspended from a cable strung between the home and a utility pole. The garage twinkles with icicle lights, and a large Santa face smiles near its roof. Windows in the house all feature small illuminated vignettes consisting of angels and other holiday figures. A Nativity scene is a focus on the lawn. Nearby, a variety of elves, snowmen, candy canes, gingerbread men and choristers create a dazzling panorama.

Georgakopoulos Family, 187 Titmus Dr., Mastic

The holiday artistry to be admired at this home is mainly the work of Anthony Georgakopoulos, said his wife, Audrey. He installed a rope light sign, 'Merry Christmas,' on the roof and framed the home's silhouette in icicle lights. The front of the house and garage are bedecked in large candy canes, some 10-feet high, which Georgakopolos fashioned from PVC piping. The stockade fence bordering the property is covered with rope light figures including a bear, a candy cane, Santa and a snowman.

Maneri Family, 14 Gaylore Dr., Huntington

The first thing to draw attention here probably is Santa Claus and his reindeer-powered sleigh zooming skyward over the garage. Anthony Maneri trimmed the entire house with icicle lights and strung virtually every tree on the property with tiny white bulbs. Visitors on the walkway pass a quartet of illuminated toy soldier sentries. The doors to the garage and house boast large bows, and the home's front deck gleams in twinkling lights. Maneri, an autombile technician, said he wanted to 'keep things reasonably simple but attractive.'

Watson Family, 21 Goshen St., Deer Park

The lighted snowflakes on the roof are joined by what appears to be a train with spinning wheels, an effect created by a sequence of blinking lights. Each window of the house is a frame for a group of small glowing holiday items including a wreath, snowman, Christmas tree and candy cane. A replica of a hot-air balloon dangles from a tall tree bathed by a spotlight. A reindeer rides in the balloon's basket while Santa Claus dangles below. On the lawn there is a crèche, and nearby figures include Winnie the Pooh, 6-foot-tall toy soldiers guarding the front door and a team of Santa's helpers.

Broy Family, 45 West Oakdale St., Bay Shore

The house is dripping with white icycle lights hanging from the roof peak. Below, the front lawn is a command post for more than 20 illuminated toy soldiers standing at attention. Nearby, nine lighted choristers appear to be singing. Inflated figures here include a snowman, a puppy and Santa and Mrs. Claus. A 3-foot-high schoolhouse occupies a prominent place. Toward the side of the lawn is the Grinch. Then, riding in a big wooden sled is a stuffed Mickey Mouse in a Santa suit. Many of the figures such as a reindeer and a clown were hand-crafted by Steve Broy with the help of his son, Stephen, 5. There's no garage, but, Broy says, 'if there was one, it would be filled.'

Scott Family, 20 Hyde Lane, Coram

Brightly colored lights gleam everywhere. In a wonderland created by Fred and Christine Scott, Santa rides his sleigh up the roof's peak. A large, lighted wreath hangs just below the peak one one side of the house. A Nativity tableau on the lawn below is made up of figures sculpted from multihued rope lights. Several inflatable characters, among them Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Goofy and a snowman wearing a straw hat, grace the property.

Mancuso Family, 22 East Gate, Copiague

The two large trains on the lawn that can be ridden by small children are among the holiday attractions set up by Denise and Joseph Mancuso. But the pride and joy of Joseph's efforts are the handmade Looney Tunes characters, including Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil, that he crafted of plywood and painted. Joining them are a half- dozen inflatable figures, including an igloo, two polar bears and penguins. Look for the North pole, cqa vertical PVC pipe with red stripes. Peeking out of the home's windows at the well-packed lawn are some Disney folk.

Mastromarino Family, 123 Magua St., Ronkonkoma

There are lights galore, ranging from tiny white ones decorating the trees to the merry garage panorama. Look for the Grinch, a soldier, Santa, a snowman, polar bear and a dog, all blow-up characters. Each year, Nancy and Arthur Mastromarino add to their spectacle. This season there are lighted wire frame elves carrying gift boxes. Mastromarino is an electrical engineer, which probably is why the illumination job dazzles. A Nativity tableau stands aglow nearby. The garage, a focal point, offers a Plexiglas window so visitors can see animated displays within.

Gottschalk Family, 11 Mill Dr., Mastic Beach

All three levels of the home of Irene and George Gottschalk gleam with lights and decorations. A huge wreath on one level is brightly lighted, while another contains a 2- foot-high sign reading, 'Noel,' with a pair of angels standing next to it. The other level features a brightly lighted Christmas present topped by a large bow. The home's three bay windows contain displays starring Winnie the Pooh, a Christmas tree, a snowman and a Santa and Mrs. Claus seated on a couch. An animated electric train on the lawn actually chugs around. What seems like a cheery crowd scene consists of 20 inflated figures on a platform. This year's newest is a 6-foot-high Santa that talks and sings.

Scaglione Family, 14 Havemeyer Lane, Commack

The theme is Toyland, and the front lawn would be the capital. There are scores of figures blazing with light. A gingerbread house sits near a little church where choir boys and girls have their mouths open in song. Candy canes, lollipops and a train with simulated spinning wheels are part of the landscape along with a bevy of inflated figures. Elves and toy soldiers line the driveway. High above is Santa and his team of reindeer heading for the chimney aboard a wire strung between two trees.

Grill Family, 106 Adirondack Dr., Selden

Icicle lights line the periphery of Margie and John Grill's house, setting a backdrop for a holiday spectacle below. In front are nine inflated figures, among them a panda, snowman, Santa and reindeer. The lawn decorations include toy soldiers and lighted plastic figures. Several trees have been meticulously decorated in a traditional manner with colored lights and old-fashioned ornaments.

Spadafora Family, 4 Kime Ave., North Babylon

More than 50 lighted choir boys and girls stand in long rows flanked by illuminated candles, angels and a host of sugar canes. Elinor and Andrew Spadafora also created an arched display about 8 feet high that has a lighted 'Merry Christmas' sign on it. In what they call Candyland, a toy soldier stands at attention. Even more soldiers are lined up across the yard, as are all sorts of colored plastic ornaments, garlands and figures. The roof of the home is decked out with more than a dozen wreaths.

Tirolo Family, 40 Segatogue Lane, South Setauket

The desired effect sought here was a kind of 'peacefully enjoyable setting' said Rosemary Tirolo, who, with her husband, Vincent, created the display. Small lights deck each window of the house, and under the trees outside are glowing candles. An animated reindeer nods its head toward a stationary pair of others nearby. A spiral wire Christmas tree glistens, and a smiling snowman stands nearby. Icicle lights frame the home and garage, which is bedecked with a large candy cane. White rope lights cover the shrubs to simulate snow.

Mongiello Family, 36 Club Lane, Levittown

Two 8-foot wooden soldiers stand at attention by the archway at the end of the driveway. Five smaller plastic soldiers send a glow across the walkway. A wire angel, with moveable wings swathed in white lights, is on the front lawn. Three animated small houses feature an ice-skating rink with Charlie Brown and Lucy along with a snowman and snowlady, Mr. and Mrs. Claus with puppies, and a gingerbread man and woman.

There's the town of Bethlehem that someone puts together every year. Oceanside Rd in Oceanside. It's between Foxhurst and Merrick Roads (which is a long stretch sorry) and it's on the right if you are coming up from Merrick Rd.

Also in Oceanside, on Waterview Ave(Rd? St?)
it is off of Rockaway Ave. Make a right onto the street. Go about 3/4 of the way down and it's on the right.

Those are the only 2 I know.

The guy on Jerusalem Ave in Uniondale doesn't do it anymore. He had a great set up.

There is an amazing one in Baldwin Harbor we saw last week, and you can donate for the cause they started it in for, Cystic Fibrosis.

There is one in New Hyde Park. It's somewhere around Nugent St. Not too far from the Lake Success shopping center. Sorry for not having the exact address. They have huge displays on their front lawn.

Did anyone see the front page of the Daily News yesterday? There was a 17 yr. old Grinch that was driving over front lawns and wrecking decorations. He was caught!
