I got married last summer while taking 2 graduate summer courses (6 week classes)
BIG MISTAKE...While getting the last minute preparations finished...I was working on getting assignments in that would be due during my honeymoon...
at least you'll have a few months off before...the semester before I was taking 3 classes and working FT - and taking dance lessons once a week with FH...it definitely took a toll on me....
best of luck...

Re: Where are the College Brides?
I'm going to school part time- working full time, so I'm going to take a semester off to get married. I could have waited till late May, but then during the final months of planning I'd have school to worry about also. So I didn't feel like dealing with it. So I'll just double up in a future semester.

Re: Where are the College Brides?
I am also wroking full time and Grad school part time. I'm getting married in August so I will take one summer class (ends at the end of June) and then have no school for July and August.
I had originally planned to take off the fall semester but couldn't do it so I will miss the first 2 classes (for honeymoon) but I'm not worrying about it. I will take only one class in the fall rather than two so I will have a little time to adjust to married life I will graduate in Dec 2004

Re: Where are the College Brides?
We already had our wedding this November but that September, I had started my first semester of grad school. Our wedding was in the middle of the semester! We got engaged and started planning long before I even knew if I would be accepted. What I did was try to plan everything that could be done ahead that summer before I started school.
For starters, I only took 3 classes last semester. Since I came in with transfer credits, I had room to adjust. I skipped the most difficult class and will just take that next fall. The first few weeks of the semester, I did my reading ahead of schedule so I was a week ahead. We got married right after midterms. Since I had done so much ahead, I left those two weeks open so I could just focus on midterms. After that, it was smooth sailing. We were allowed three absences for the semester since the classes only met once a week. I made sure I was present at all my other classes and only missed the week that we were on our HM. The only problem was that once we came back, it was hard for me to get back into the swing of things. I did get to my internship that Monday after we returned from Aruba, even though we had just got in at 2 am. I couldn't miss any aditional days there. Luckily, all our finals were papers, and not tests. I read the material that I needed for my papers and let the rest of my readings slide a little. I wound up with two A-'s and one A for the semester, even with all the difficulties.
It can be done! Just ask for help from those around you like your Mom, FMIL, and BM's. Make school your priority and do the wedding stuff on the weekends or when you have gotten caught up on your school work. Good luck

Re: Where are the College Brides?
i'm finishing up law school and will be taking the bar at the end of February (about 2 months before the wedding) I'm trying to do most of my planning between my semesters because I don't know if I will be moving this summer after I graduate or what my plans will be. I figure if I spread out the planning it won't be too much at one time. It gives me a short break from my work.

Re: Where are the College Brides?
Im in grad school - I'll be done in May and I am getting married in July. The only thing that worries me is even though I'll be done with school for a few months but the time the wedding roles around, I will be job searching for September!!

Re: Where are the College Brides?
I am taking 6 grad credits during the semester of which I am getting married. I am a little nervous that the school work will add to the wedding stress. But I have no choice, I must finish my practicum!

Re: Where are the College Brides?
I will be graduating law school in May and will be taking the bar exam in July. That's why we're waiting till May 2004. I want some time to study for the bar and take the bar with no worries about the wedding and have time to begin my career and save some money. We try to do all of the wedding planning on the weekends. Fh works in the City and doesn't have a set time that he comes home and I usually have homework to do, so weekends work best for us.
Edited to say: that I work part time also. There's no way I could work full time.

Re: Where are the College Brides?
Also working full-time and doing my MBA part-time...in Washington, DC, no less! Wedding's in July, so I am still taking classes this semester, but cutting it down to 4.5 credits instead of the usual 6. The good part is that both classes end before the regular end of semester, so I will (hopefully!) be done by mid-April. Then I am not taking ANY classes over the summer.
It is really helpful to hear there are others in the same boat (sinking though it often feels!).

Re: Where are the College Brides?
No kidding, I'm at AU! Are you doing an MBA as well? Are you on our list of DC brides? We are planning a little GTG a week from Thursday (I think).

Re: Where are the College Brides?
There is no reason you can't join us! It would be great to have you along!
One of my MBA concentrations actually deals with project management and consulting. Are you taking any of the event management courses at GW as well, or is that out of your area? You can FM me back if you want, so we don't bore everyone else with our DC banter.
