I need suggestions! Where are you ladies getting your cakes? How did you decide which bakery to use? Did you get to sample cakes? And, if you don't mind me asking, how much will your cake cost?
TIA

Re: Where are you getting your cake?
We're using Ron Ben-Israel in Manhattan. Junebride used him as well and her cake looked amazing. We didn't use our hall because the cake I want requires fondant icing and, for whatever reason, they don't use fondant.
I just went to a bunch of different bakers and chose the one who had the best tasting cake. His fillings are really good too, very light but flavorful. There was one person whose fillings were better but the cake was a little dry, which wasn't good. There's additional info and pricing on his website: Ron Ben-Israel
ETA: if you schedule a tasting (which is hard because it's only M-F, 8-5 I think), you get to try the cakes and fillings. They even let me take a sample set home for FH since he couldn't make it. They are so friendly and accomodating there.

Re: Where are you getting your cake?
i am planning on ordering it from Front Street Bakery in Rockville Centre. My place gives me mine for free - but the cakes from Front Street are UNREAL. I will pay the extra $150 to have something that looks and tastes great.

We are using weddingcakesonline.com. The cakes are delicious and not badly priced. The cakes range from $6.00 to $7.00. Try the website. You will not be dissatisfied.

We're actually getting our cake from Carvel! the guy that works there is a graphic artist so he's going to decorate it the way I want. We wanted it simple anyway. It will be two layers. I'm really excited about it!!

We were originally getting it through the hall, but a friend of the family happens to be a Pastry Chef, she used to work at Windows of the world. Anyway, she is doing it for us for the best priceever-FREE!!

That's awesome! Wedding cake with crunchies, the greatest cake filling everrrrr!
Oh man, I just don't know what to do about this cake business. Part of me thinks 'Heck, everyone's drunk by the time the cake gets served, they wouldn't care if it was Entenmann's,' and the other part of me thinks 'This is my wedding cake and I should spare no expense!'
