marriage license? Have you heard any horror stories regarding any particular county office?
I'm a long distance bride and won't arrive in NY until 3 days before the wedding. I don't want NO problems.

I know for the Town of Huntington and this is a new rule you must provide more than one proof of indentifcation drivers license is not sufficient. I'll be honest I don't remember if they want two or three things but my friend went all her way there just with a drivers license and they would not give it it to her and FI. Call the town clerks office of your town and see what they require. GOod luck

We had the same problem mentioned as above we did not have two proofs with the town of smithtown. We were long distance too and almost had a 'pretend wedding' because a lot of what we needed was at home. I would def. say to call the town you are going to get it at just to double check. ONce we got everything we needed we waited in line just a 2 minutes and hte whole process took about 7.

Manhattan--One Center Street. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We were one of the first ones waiting on line. We waiting 1/2 for the office to open at 8:30am which the actual process didn't take so long. I think the actual process for us took about 20 minutes--filling out the form, answering questions, searching the system if we were ever married before, etc.
Have your money order ready, the fees may vary for different countys of NYS. The Manhattan office does not provide any pens, so bring your own. Both the bride and groom must be present when signing the license. You have 60 days to use it and there's a 24 hour waiting period so check your calendar and count the days before your wedding.

Do you have to get your license in the same town where you will get married? My FI and I live in NYC but we'll get married on LI; can we just get the license in Manhattan?
