where are you sitting

i'm thinking about not doing the dais at the reception. i kinda want to be sitting with my bridal party. is that stupid? should i not do that??

do you mean not doing the sweetheart table? that's where the two of you sit alone, the dais is the bride and groom sitting with their BP along side of them. i totally think you can do whatever you want. if i decide to sit with my BP, though, i think i'd want to sit with them at a real square or rectangular table as opposed to having them sit along side me where i can't really talk to them.

i have seen mnay people to that. I myself are doing the sweetheart table you can go either way...i have seen some people who set tables up on each side of the sweet heart so that they are with the BP but at a seperate table at the same time

i dont think it's stupid but keep in mind that your guests would like to talk and come up to you and your hubbs so if you are sitting on a regular table opposed to the dais then it might be too crowded. i've been to a wedding where they sat with their bp, it was okay... it was hard to find them tho. LOL

we're not doing a dais, our bridal party is very large but I probably wouldn't do one anyway. If the bridal party sits with the bride and groom then (most of the time) their dates will be seated at a different table, which can get awkward. Just something to factor in to your decision.

Do what you want. I've been in weddings before where the bride and groom had a head table that included the BP. We're doing the sweetheart table though.

oh yeah, i forgot about that. i was in a wedding where my date was four tables away from me. i felt bad coz he didn't know anyone there.

how old are the kids? Maybe you can put them at a kids table near the dais table?

i was thinking about that, all the kids are around ages where they could sit by themselves.
this seating this isn't fun - it's like who's gonna get along with who blah blah blah - pick a chair any chair i'm about to say F this lol

the one thing im opposed to dais' is if the BP are not sitting with their dates, spouses, etc.

its been done to me and it was awful for both of us

your bridal party is small enough where you can sit them with their dates at your dais table, if that is what you'd want to do.

we're doing the sweetheart table. i want the BP to be able to sit with their dates.

Re: where are you sitting

we only have a moh and bm so we were thinking of sitting with them, since they are our brothers and sisters

for example:
FH and Me
MOH(mysister) with my BIL
BM (his brother) and his wife
FSIL and FBIL
FSIL and FBIL

then that would be a whole table and save room by not using the sweetheart (since im worried about space)

i agree..thats the reason we opted not to do that. Anyone who brings a date..even if they know people can feel pretty uncomfortable sitting with other people all night. I dont think they enjoy the wedding as much because they feel awkward.. and in the same sense i think the BP will want to enjoy the evening with their spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend.

Re: where are you sitting

I am having a sweetheart table because I have ten bm and gm. Also I thought that they would all like it better if they could sit with there significant other since most of them are married are seriously dating someone. But i was in my best friends wedding last year and she had us all at her table. it was nice and i really liked the way it looked and she had 8 bm and gm.
