Hi girlies, I am in need of some help AGAIN! I am not sure where to have the RSVP envelopes addressed to. FH and I have our own apartment and I would like the RSVP's to come to us. I am a very organized bride -- guest lists and budget on spread sheets, binder and folders for everything, ect. The problem is, my parents think the RSVPs should go to their house - they are paying for the reception so therefore they are hosting the party. That's not practical to me. I would have to trek all the way across town everytime an RSVP comes in to pick it up? We are going to have tons of running around to do and it's just one more hassle to me. Especially since the US post office can deliver it right to my door! Am I wrong? Should I have the RSVPs go to my parents house just because that is the way it's 'supposed to be?' What do you girls think, honestly?

We if I were you...and if I lived with FH..I would send them to our home...but since I still live with parents..they would come here

I had this same problem. In the end my mother won.. She agreed that she would make sure I get all RSVP asap. This is why I added an extra week before my final head count.

I am a firm believer in 'Do what is best for you'. I can imagine how you feel and I would want them to go to me also. Are your parents giving you a hard time about it or is it 'etiquette' that is stopping you?

My parents are giving us a hard time. I just don't understand what the big deal is. And I am afraid that some of them are going to get lost / misplaced.

i think the whole addressing it to the parents house was the norm & made sense back in the days when most brides lived at home until they were married (and were actually virgins..haha)...and maybe some parents want to hold onto that 'ideal' by still having addressed to their place? Ask your parents the reasoning behind it maybe? And then tell them how it'd be easier and make more sense to have you receive them. Or perhaps they want everyone to know they are hosting? But it would convey that on the invites, right? Good luck!

since we're paying for the invites...and our parents are splitting the cost of the wedding between them...the RSVP's are coming to us...its just going to stave off all the confusion that would come with the RSVP's going to anyone else

i just went through this entire thing with my mom... she thought it was rude and offensive to have them sent to us becuase she is paying for the reception but i said she is totally disorganzied as much as i love her and there is no sense in them going to her when i am the one doing all the planning and organzing of the entire thing.. wound up having them come to me and fh but mind u my mother didnt speak to me for almost 2 months straight ... she got over it though and realized in the end it really doesnt matter that much and i get the excited i wanted of fh and i opening them together good luck .. do whats right for you not everyone else

Ours are coming to our place... Thats weird why would they go to your mothers??? If you don't live there?
The invitation store lady told me they are usually addressed to the bride.

Ours are comming to us but we are paying for the whole shabang. If anyone wanted to pay for our wedding I would let them get the rsvp's and pick them up.

same issue w/ me! My parents paid for 85% of my reception and my mom felt all RSVP go there. We live in NC and i knew that if i sent them here that id get late ones and id never get them since i was heading back to NY for the last 3 weeks before my wedding. So my mom won!!!
