I'm totally clueless. I'm considering getting one for FH as part of his wedding gift. Is there a brand that is better than others? One to stay away from? Anyone have any ideas?

FH's family swears by Weber grills, they're supposedly a great brand that will last forever. I think you can buy them at the normal spots- Home Depot, Loews, maybe even Wal-Mar, sporting goods stores, etc. Maybe even Costco or Sam's Club.

RESEARCH.
try sears, bjs, costco...home depot, lowes....they all tend to carry them. i say go during the week when there will be fewer 'sales' people there to clout your head with trivial option you may not want/need/care for to really look and then maybe on a weekend go in with your knowledge and let them tell you all about them.
i personally don't know if one brand is better than the next nor do i have any horror stories....i personally like charcoal over propane as far as taste goes, but i also see the clean up benefit of the propane ones as well.

Fortunoffs has a huge selection on their lower level. I am not sure if their prices are compatiable to the other stores or not. I happen to like Sears but I always get sucked into buying an extended warranty that cost almost as much as the purchase and I never use it. There is also Plesser's in Babylon on Main Street. I have never been there but hear great things about them. Also, you might want to see who offers free assembly. Ours was a pain to put together.

I say check Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, JCPennys maybe even has them. There is also a place in Wantagh right on Merrick Road. Its on the corner...they have some outside. I'll get the name for you!!

I would reccomend Weber as well, but just so you know they don't really go on sale. It's one of those items where the price is the same no matter where you go. We did a lot of research and the price was always the same so we got ours from PC Richards, but I know Home Depot carries them too.

Just passed one on my way home today and they've got a big banner outside the store.
