Yup, the fashion district in manhattan. It's in the 20s and 30s on the west side of manhattan (near Penn station). There are tons of places there.

Do you not want to hunt around the garment district or do you just want specific stores/addresses?
If you don't want to do the garment district thing, I know there's a store calle JoAnn Fabrics, they have them in the suburbs so there's probably some on LI somewhere, I know there's a website.

Around 34-39th street between 7th and 9th Avenue. LOTS of fabric stores around there

unfortunately the rag shop closed or i would send u there....not sure in NYC but Joann's on LI is good

yes right near where macy's is, m&j trimmings is a big one this is the address I found in google
1008 Sixth Ave new york, ny
I think it's between 38th and 39th but if you go in that general area there are a ton of fabric stores. I plan on hitting them up this weekend too

oh MIzz I have to get fabric as well. I want to get shawls for my girls as well but I read someone on here just went down to the fabric district area where Jess was talking about and bought the fabric. Now can I just by pieces of fabric at a certain length and wa-la those are their shawls??!! haha
I guess what I am trying to say is what is your seamstress doing to them??

she told me to buy a certain number of feet of fabric and she will make them into shawls.
