It depends on where you are flying. If you can try to book JetBlue. They are awesome & very affordable. Also, their security is great & the staff is very friendly & helpful as well.
We used them to go to FL before taking the jumper flight to the Bahamas.

I second Expedia. You can also try travelocity, orbitz and sidestep.

the thing with travel agents, the will provide you transfers if the hotel doesn't already provide. laguagge will be in your room and little things like that. the the HM though..i would book though expeida or an agent just so everything is done..
i recommend Expedia...great and easy

You can try priceline.com, cheapfares.com, hotwire.com. These are ones that I have used in the past.

I am a frequent flier with American Airlines and I have signed up my favorite destinations with their Net Savers. So they always send me emails every week on which destinations are cheaper during that time period. I signed up for Saint Louis to New York alert so I always buy my plane tickets home when they are cheaper. We are doing the same thing for our honeymoon flights as well. You can sign up for NY to Aruba and buy them when they go on sale.

I would try Liberty Travel...
I really liek them and you can get tons of upgrades to better rooms and hotels with their $50 membership...saves you hundreds and hundreds...

We are flying to Aruba. the only airline that flies direct to aruba from NY is American Airlines. There's one airline that flies direct from newark, I think continental.
Check aa.com, and check daily because they are constantly changing the prices.
also check americanexpress.com - they have a site where you can search for flights, and then go book directly from the airline.
FM me with your dates if you need more help.
also, I have a travel agent who had originally booked our flight and hotel (at a cheaper rate than aa.com, but we decided to fly business class, so we cancelled the flight part)

Expedia is great for one way tickets like that. I use Travelocity constantly as well. Hotwire is amazing for hotels and so is priceline.
