Where can we go to adopt a pet (dog)?

Where can we go to adopt a pet (dog)?

we are looking to get a puppy in the summer. where should we go to adopt one besides north shore animal league???

looking for places in queens or long island...
if you have phone numbers or websites, that would be helpful!!

You can check your local animal shelters or try Little Shelter in Huntington. Also you can try online at www.petfinder.org

Actually I would prefer rescuing an animal from a 'kill' shelter...saving one from being put down is what I would do!

Little shelter in huntington.

I think their website is littleshelter.com or .org, not sure. Do a search on google.com

'Save A Pet' in Port Jefferson Station, my DH works very closely with them and spays/neuters a lot of their animals. They rescue so many from such horrendous situations and some are just unwanted.

I know they recently had 8 week old puppies, but I'm not sure what breed they were, but they always have animals there that need good homes.

473-6333 is their phone number.

Chloegirl adopted her cat from them as well.

Most of the local shelters are 'kill' shelters...you could call around to some of them.

IMO, stay away from NSAL - they aren't as fabulous as they like to tout.

My friend got two cats from NSAL....and they are fine....but I know what you are talking about. Danielle and I will not be getting our kitten from them.

I would check out the town shelter's
town of Huntington's Shelter is in East Northport
town of Smithtown's Shelter is in Smithtown

I adopted my dog from NSAL, she's great... spoiled rotten, but great.

I volunteer for an animal shelter in Queens. Usually, we only have cats and kittens, but occasionally we get dogs/puppies. THe name is Animals cant talk in Little Neck, Queens. You can check out the website on Petfinders.com or by doing a search on Google. Our number is 718 393 7535. Please pass this along to anyone who wishes to adopt a feline. We have so many beautiful and purrfect cats and kittens up for adoption.

Another place in Queens that has puppies/dogs is Animal Haven in Flushing. You may want to adopt from a kill shelter CACC in Brooklyn. Ithink there is one in Queens. It is in Elmhurst, NY.
