Where did you get your bed?

I am getting beat up by DH every day in our full bed (he kicks in his sleep SO HARD!), so we are shopping for a king this weekend. What are the best/cheapest places? TIA!

Re: Where did you get your bed?

We bought our bed from Sleepy's and they went down from the ticket price. The original price was $2600 but he said we could get it for $2100. DH and I kept discussing it and after about an hour, the salesguy finally offered up his discount which made the bed about $1700. We took it and the delivered it the next day (which was a Sunday.) Another one you could try is the 1-800-Mattress store.

Thanks! The ticket prices always seem so high. Was that for a king?

Re: Where did you get your bed?

It was for a king sized King's Down, which is apparently one of the better beds out there. There were definitley cheaper king sized beds, but we fell in love with ours.

Re: Where did you get your bed?

I'm sure its not the cheapest but we just got the Select Comfort Bed. The one where you select your number.

Its the strangest bed I've ever seen. It was delivered in boxes. Its foam and air chambers. Each side gets to chose their firmness. When the other side moves you don't feel it as much if at all.

My DH got a bed at Sleepy's, do not pay what the price tag says. You can totally talk them down- a lot. Play good cop/bad cop and see what you can get.

ETA: Keep in mind, king size bedding costs more then full or queen. DH and I can't believe we used to sleep on the full bed (now spare bed) and we've only had our bed for 2 weeks.

Re: Where did you get your bed?

Our friend got it- he's a contractor. They've been married for about 6 years and this is their 3rd bed. They are keeping this one. They've had it for over 2 years now.

I love it, its great if you like a hard bed and he likes a soft one. Its great for keeping the other on their side because the middle is a little uncomfortable if you sleep on it.

If you get one, if you give them my name, I get a gift cert.

DH loves it too.

I think the type of pillow helps too. The sales woman talked us into new pillows. They are very comfy. Not like the 2/&7 at K-mart that we did have.

There is a 30 day $$ guarantee if you don't like it. Ours came in about 1-1 1/2 weeks. They have saturday delivery too.

ETA:
We got the 5000 model, the 3000 was less expensive but had less dence foam/inch. This one is good. The 7000 and 9000 were just too much money, we didn't even bother sitting on them.

If you go to the store, you can play with the settings too.

ETA Again: Just did a seach, QVC had the bed we got, for $200 less then we paid, I'm bummed!

Re: Where did you get your bed?

I have to say, from past experience......even if you have to wait longer....DON'T cheap out on a mattress or boxspring!!!!

We went to 'less expensive' route with our first mattress and we couldn't figure out why we both had so many back and neck problems....until we did some research and found the mattress to be the problem.

IMO, you should wait a few more months, save some pennies, and buy a good mattress and box spring. Instead of trying to find the best deal for any random mattress....try out the good ones, THEN shop around for the best price.

The Kings Down mattresses are wonderful (moderately priced and good quality)---there are cheaper decent ones out there (and vice versa, much more expensive ones too), but be sure that it's completely comfy/cozy before you buy!!!

Good Luck...

Re: Where did you get your bed?

When we were shopping .. every store .. Sleepy's, Rockaway Bedding .. told us Sterns and Foster are a fixed price .. and they can not go lower than the 'low' price .. and I guess that's the truth .. because no matter where we went .. it was the same price everywhere for the 'C' series Sterns & Foster pillow top .. we even shopped at a couple of different Sleepy's and a couple of different Rockaway Beddings.

We ended up buying from Rockaway Bedding in Commack .. only when we went in there .. we told the guy exactly what we wanted to buy .. and the order was written up .. there was no discussion about it. I had gotten really frustrated with other stores .. didn't feel like we were getting straight answers .. so the store in Commack .. we didn't even give them a chance to do the same. The worst 'help' was from a man in the Babylon Sleepy's .. on Main Street .. across from Palanker Chevrolet .. the man made us feel very uncomfortable .. then it escalated to where he was actually shouting at us (as we were trying to leave) that he had what we wanted. (He initially told us he didn't have what we wanted). VERY WEIRD!!
