Where did you get your mortgage?

Where did you get your mortgage?

Did you get your mortgage through one of the big institutional banks (i.e. Chase, Citibank, etc) or did you go through some place that only specializes in mortgages and financing? We need to secure a mortgage soon and the places that specializes in mortgages seem to have better rates but I think I would feel more comfortable going with the bigger banks. Thoughts? TIA!!

We went through Wells Fargo, and it was the easiest mortgage process ever!


I highly recommend them.

We went thru our own bank, Chase. Every broker I spoke to was an a$$hole -- but the service I am getting wih Chase is stellar. I also investigated Countrywide who was very nice but for some reason I felt was trying to scam me. I could be paranoid LOL

Be careful, b/c with a place other than a bank, you will pay more junk fees. Make sure you tell them -- WAIVE YOUR BULL$HIT FEES... We are only paying $500 in bank fees (aside from appraisal) directly thru the bank, and from other lenders I was getting estimates of $1500-2500 just in bank fees. I'm not kidding. i was like 'What the he!! is this random 'processing fee'' -- just be careful!! I trust no one LOL

We loved Home Finance of America- we used Jodi Warshaver- we got a great rate through them and they were very reliable.

Members Mortgage, highly NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!

Countrywide FOr our summer house and we have had no problems with them...

Chase. We refinanced with them last year and we got a great rate with no fees.

We are going thru Washington Mutual and they came hihgly recommended.

Continental Captial...AMZAING!!!!!

They showed us three different options for our mortagae and came to our realtor's office....
