My wedding is in March, and Mom is still looking for her dress.
We went to Estelles two times but it's kinda hit or miss there, and I don't really know which wedding places have the best MOB selections?
She's not the kind of Mom to wear a super sexy dress, but she doesn't wear grandma-type dresses either. Something in the middle...maybe with a little sleeve or jacket.
Can you ladies tell me where you took your mom to get HER dress?? How were the prices there?
Thanks!

My mom loves this dress maker in queens. I think it will cost the same for her to have something made than to buy something. She's a size 18, I don't know why she insists on it, but whatever.

My mom got her dress at Macy's. With the holiday's coming, don't overlook department stores. They're gonna have a ton of gowns for holiday parties.

There's a store in Great Neck called - My daughter's Wedding. My mom hasn't gone yet, but lots of people in my family have for their children's/family weddings and they all LOVE it. They have lots of styles and can alter just about anything (add sleeves especially).

Re: Where did/will your Mom get her dress for Day Of?
I went with my daughter to RK Bridal on 39th St in NYC- just to 'look'. In 2 1/2 hrs we both had gowns! They had a hugh selection and the saleswoman actually picked my dress- the 1st I tried on. She also brought about 15 others, based on what I told her I was looking for. I love it! I took it to a good a good seamstress for alterations - I live on LI, but my daughter's bridal gown alterations were done at RK- and they were reasonably priced. I can't say enough good things about RK! Good Luck!

Re: Where did/will your Mom get her dress for Day Of?
My mother got her dress off the rack at Macy's for an awesome price!!! She didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount at a bridal shop, and I didn't blame her. Her dress was awesome!
Re: Where did/will your Mom get her dress for Day Of?
My mom got her dress for the ceremony at David's Bridal - we ran in there one day just to look around and we saw a few dresses and I convinced my mom to try them on. One of them looked gorgeous on her and was the PERFECT fit, like it was made specifically for her. I told her she couldn't leave without buying it.
Later on we thought we might take it to the seamstress to add some beading to make it more dressy, but we didn't want to possibly ruin it. So while shopping for my grandmother's dress at Estelle's, my mom found another beautiful gown with beading and a jacket and bought that for the church. Never meant to have two dresses, but both looked great on her, so I told her to wear both!
We got my MIL's dress at Estelle's also, AND my grandmother's dress at Estelle's. They were all purchased on separate shopping trips though. In total I went to Estelle's about 4 times for those 3 dresses, but it was worth it because they all looked beautiful and got something they loved for themselves.
My mom's dress for the church:
My mom's dress for the reception - she's wearing the brown gown with the bolero jacket. Best pic I have so far.
