There was a place in the 50's (?) on 2nd or 3rd that started with an M--I have no idea if it's still there, but it was huge...sorry I can't be of more help...maybe someone on here knows.

But that is music that would have been popular when they were in their 20s or 30s, so wouldn't it be a good suggestion?

I think if you're looking for more disco dancing , Decades is still around ( I think it's 2nd or 1st ave by the 59th Street bridge)
If it's more slowdancing - then take the suggestion of the Supper Club or Rainbow Room

I thought so. It's more of an older crowd - less teenagers and twenty somethings. It's fun.

sorry should have specified more, they are into disco and so into Motown. looking for fast dancing, not a young crowd that they will feel out of place in though.

They would appreciate music more from the 60s and 70s but I'm sure they will appreciate all music. Everyone likes some songs from some decades. I think you just want to have it in a place that they can feel comfortable in. Timeout magazine will have some suggestions.

I would NOT recommend Culture Club for a bunch of people in their 50s. Even if the music is to their liking... Culture Club gets WAY TOO PACKED. There is no way an older crowd will tolerate that.

I agree - it's not that old a crowd! It ranges, but most of the poeple I see there are in their 20s or 30s.

Last time I checked... Decade closed down last year.
That would have been a good suggestion, but obviously not a choice now.

Yup Culture Club is definitely NOT an older crowd. 20-30s tops.

thanks, is there no market out there for 40-50 year olds to get down at? With baby boomers aging and taking over, someone should open something. I don't want to have to throw a party just to get a good dance scene to happen. It is mainly my mother, her friends and my aunts.

Check out CasaBlanca. I have heard them doing parties there for an older crowd.
