Where do i begin?

i was wondering if i should go to the church or the reception hall first to see if they have my date open. also i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for reception halls.

Go to the church first. In some cases, if the priest finds out you reserved the hall first they will not do your wedding. They get really bent out of shape about it.

I went to the church first because it was very important to me to get married in the church where I was christined & where my family attends services.

Church first, because you can pick and choose your reception hall based on the dates your church has free. Where are you considering for your reception? Where is your church? What do you have in mind for reception halls? For example, do you and FH really want it on the water? On the north shore, south shore? Consider questions such as these to narrow down your initial selection of places to see. Also consider a budget. Some places are great until you see the price per person!

You should really go to the church first, but more importantly get your hall. As far as reccomendations for a reception hall go, I'm sure we can all give you many! It all depends on what kind of wedding you want, how many guests you are having and what price range you are looking for...

We did the church and reception site all in the same week. Def check with church first though, to make sure they have the date open that you have in mind. I am booked at the Riviera. So I would recommend there...but also very nice Villa Lombardi's (GREAT Food). Welcome to the boards

definitely do the church first. everything revolves around that. you can always find a reception hall with an open date.

Re: Where do i begin?

FH and my reception is at Timber Point Country Club in Great River and we are paying under $75 pp before taxes, but that is a 2003 price quote, I'm not sure about their 2004 prices. You can check out lessings.com, they are the caterers for our site and they have a few others as well.

Swan club was about $55 per person

Just wanted to second Timber Point(our wedding is 10/3/03 there)! It's quite beautiful there & affordable. Lessings has some other affordable halls to. Checkout their website!
