hi everyone. i am new to this. we got engaged in may but starting to plan for the wedding just now. anyone have any ideas on great, affordable reception places on LI. maybe vineyards to check out.

I would start with a budget and guest list. Do a search for the different places you had in mind. Tell us what your budget per person is, then we can help more. Then find your photographer, dj/band. You should also start looking for a dress, depending on the designer, they can take a long time to come in. Do a search for all vendors before you book, especially bridal salons. Don't forget to breathe and ask before you sign.

There are tons of places on LI to get married at and lots of them are affordable. You can do a search under the Services tab for venues or just watch these boards...you'll get tons of ideas.
I am getting married at the Milleridge in Jericho.

I would defenitly check out Vineyard Caterers in Aquabouge. If you dont want a Vineyard per se you could check out the new East Wind building it is amazing, but I am a little partial since I am getting married their.

Congratulations! We are getting married at the Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue so you may not want to take our advice We loved the place, other pretty sites are Stonebridge, Land's End, and Port Jeff CC

I'm getting married at Wolffer next July! I absolutely love it there, and we're working with caterer/planner Michelle from Food & Co. who has done a bunch of events at Wolffer. She's so helpful....it's going to be EXPENSIVE though!!!!

First off, CONGRATS and WELCOME! Definitely pick up one of the location magazines, I think one is called Wedding Facilities, they have a LI edition. Then just start setting up appointments and go visit the places that you think you like and HAVE FUN!
