So, I actually had planned half of my wedding back in 2006 and had to cancel due to financial and family issues.
Finally, I think we're ready to plan again but I am really scared, worried and discouraged. Our hall kept part of our deposit and said we could apply it to a later date, but now I just think that hall is out of our price range. It's sad because we were so in love with it and didn't even look anywhere else. The thought of starting over is so overwhelming! We were so in love with it and dreamed of our wedding there for literally 4 years since we booked it the first time.
Any suggestions on where to begin? And/or how to make the wedding more affordable? I'm so afraid to have to cancel it again.
Originally we planned for December, now I was thinking of June (our 11th dating anniversary), I'm also open to maybe the Sunday of memorial day weekend, or ..is April cheaper? I don't think I want winter anymore.
Help me BREATHE.

The winter months will be the best priced -- if cost is a concern. I also think vendors will be more flexible in the winter months. June is peak season and will be pricey

Re: Where do I start?
ok first.. simmer down!!!
what is the original RH?
i would go to them with a list of possible dates you like and have them give you pricing for all the dates. remember, sunday afternoons and thursdays are cheaper and becoming really popular! you have to do what it best for you and your FH.. no need to break the bank for the wedding!
figure out what you CAN do financially first and then go from there!
good luck!!!

April is the last month of the off season.. May is where the prices start to go up.
Hope everything works out for you!!

I really think if you're willing to be flexible, they'll be willing to work with you. I gave you quotes for a Saturday night in June. But Peak season is generally May through October. So April might be an option. And remember, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturday days, and Sundays are always cheaper. Call the banquet manager and try talking with her to see. They are super accomodating and I think they'd prefer to work on the price a bit rather than losing the business all together.

I'm going to go there and see if the BM we worked with is still there, maybe we can figure something out!

Re: Where do I start?
if your on a tight budget i would def stick with winter months... but if you have your heart set on summer you can work with RH's to see if they have any discount days (usually holidays).... and def look into fridays and sundays maybe even a day wedding (that will keep cost down), also any off peak times or days will also bring down the cost of all vendors you book usually, so thats also something to keep in mind.

Re: Where do I start?
Winter months are cheaper...however my price at the RH is the same price for a summer afternoon wedding....so it really depends. Like another girl said, if you go there and tell them your budget they can probably work with you. No one wants to lose business in this economy so everyone is compromising. Good luck!

Re: Where do I start?
I agree..I'd go into them and explain your situation. Tell them what you're looking to spend, and then ask them what dates/seasons would be the best for you to research. Summer evening is definitely the most expensive, but a lot of places have discounts for sunday afternoon in summer that could work.
You'll find something that is WONDERFUL.

Re: Where do I start?
I'm certainly partial to the Memorial Day Monday. And am in search of a date twin. Seriously, it is much less to get married on certain days and times that are not considered 'peak'. Talk to your RH and see what your options are.
