We want to put an extension on the back of our house making one bedroom and the kitchen bigger, possibly adding a bathroom or making othe one bigger. We also want to add a deck. We just really don't know what we need to do first.

You would have to call up contractors and start getting estimates for the job.. the contractor that you use will do all the necessary paperwork for the town and what not..

They can get all of that for you.. (plumbers/electricians) everything.. =)

Jodi we are looking into this too (if we are accepted for this bid)
and from what I understand you only need the architect if its something really fancy...but a basic push out could be done by a contractor...
but like marcella said...a good contactor can refer you to someone if he feels he cannot do it...
