hope this is not a stupid question but where do we go get a new social security card from? what do I need to bring?

Not a stupid q...you have to go in person with your marriage license to your local socail security office. I think you need your driver's license too for proof of who you are. You can find one online. I don't know where you live but I went to the one in West Babylon (next to the Bed Bath and Beyond shopping center).

I went to the one off of Rt. 110. I think it was on Walt Whitman Road. It took literally 15 mins.

I went there (it's the Melville office) and I waited a little over an hour. Not too bad. You bring the application form filled out, your marriage license, and any ID (does not have to have your new name).
