They only recommended one vendor. Are they generally expensive?

I forget the name of the place we used... it was in Mineola. The chair covers came to $5/cover.

Does your venue have linens? We used the ones they had on site.
Also, sometimes it's best to use the recommended vendor for that stuff b/c they've worked together before and know the room, table sizes, etc. In my case, they knew the chairs that we'd be using so I knew the covers would fit perfectly.
