Where does the bride get dressed if.....

Where does the bride get dressed if the ceremony and reception is in another state? I am probably going to book a place in Long Island or New Jersey but I live in Brooklyn NY. If there is a bridal suite does the bride get dressed there? or does the bride get dressed at home and then relax in the bridal suite? I am clueless when it comes to weddings. I also want to be photographed getting ready. I also want to know if the bridesmaids get ready with the bride in the same place so I can plan ahead to bring them with me. Help pleez!

if the rh has a bridal suite you can get ready there....or you can get ready at a hotel if you are staying there the night before....it depends on your preference.

I live over an hour away from where our ceremony/reception is so I'll be staying in a hotel nearby the night before and getting ready there.

Thanks everyone. THAT IS SUCH A GREAT IDEA.....stay at a hotel and relax sounds better than travel to the place the same day. Would it work if the bridesmaids stay too? The guys would obviously have it easier since they will be much more comfortable in their tuxedos.

the bridesmaids can def stay too - a friend of mine actually booked a suite for her and her bridal party as part of her gifts to her bridal party. i'm thinking of doing that for my wedding too!

My wedding party will probably include only three couples and they will be between 18 and 21 so it will be fun if I do that. I thought that I would have to get dressed in my 4th floor apartment and walk out to the front courtyard with my dress. LOL...I am definitely out of the loop when it comes to weddings.

Hehe - no worry! That's why we're here! The hotel idea is great but you can also get ready at the bridal suite at your location. This is what I'm doing because I have an hour drive to my reception/ceremony place (both at teh same place)

I am trying to get in contact with two different places and the first thing I will do when I finally visit them is check the bridal suite! I want to know if they have enough plugs for the hairdresser that day.

You can get dressed at the hotel you are staying at for the night or the place you are getting married

It depends. We're going to be staying in a hotel the night before, so everyone will be getting ready there. You can probably get ready in the Bridal Suite if it will be available, but if there's another wedding that day there may not be enough time. You'd have to call your RH & ask.

I am getting ready in the bridal suite of the synagogue.

The girls will get ready at the hotel. If I didnt wait, I would not have the photographer be able to take pix of me getting ready!
