I am looking for a reputable jewelry store near 42nd & 3rd where I can go get my engagement ring cleaned on lunch (probably every week, lol). I dont want to pay more than $20. Any suggestions?

I do mine the inexpensive way: at home under the steamer from my espresso machine It's pretty much what they do, I think.

I take my rings to get polished (real cleaning not steaming only) on 47th Street betwen 5th and 6th Avenues - it's in the basement of (I believe) 55 W. 47th St.
ETS: For polishing it's $5 - $8

That is a very good idea. Sometimes I put mine in boiling water or use toothpaste or windex but I was thinking of getting it professionally done. It always turns out so nice.

I'd go to the jewelry exchange at the diamond district. Downstairs they have people that will clean your ring.

I do that too!! That's one of the many things I learned from working at Starbucks for so many years! haha

Where is the diamond district? Is it easy to get to? I am at 42nd & 3rd. Would that be too much of a hassle to do during lunch?

There is a Starbucks on the corner, perhaps I should just slip one of the workers $5 to clean it on the espresso machine, lol!

I use 1/3 water, 2/3 windex in a coffee mug & put in microwave for 10-20 sec (without the ring). I drop the ring in & use an old toothbrush dipped in the windex to clean it. It comes out as good as the jewelers! I do this every time I clean the house

my FH purchased the Salton Jewelry steam cleaner for $60. it is supposed to be as good and the professional cleaners. It is def. a good investment. I clean my ring whenever I want!

I do almost the same thing, but don't microwave it... I'll have to try heating up the mixture before soaking the ring next time!
