I did a search for David's Bridal stores on their site and they said the closest one was Westbury and then Conneticut! Is this true? My sis seems to think there is one in Suffolk County? (I really need a Suffolk one if possible.)
I did a Yahoo Yellow Pages search too and they said Yonkers! What gives?
Part two of my question is do you recommend them? I thought I heard some conflicting opinions and want to know if it is worth even going there?
TIA!

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
They are in the process of opening one by Smithhaven but I don't know when it will be opened. So for right now, yes, the closest one is in Westbury.

There is not David's in Suffolk, eyt. It's being bult next to Smithaven Mall, but it's not opened yet.
The cloest one to us is at the Source Mall in Westbury.

Well look who it is
The only David's Bridal on the Island is near the Source Mall in Westbury. HTH
Edited to add: That I went to look at dresses at the new Davids in Westbury and the service was great. I know that they have a great tea length selection.

I went to the one in Yonkers, and if I could I would close down the store myself and offer a customer service seminar to all of the incompetent employees!!!!!!!!!

If you find a dress you love, go for it...but do NOT expect great customer service or even slightly organized service! Definitely go elsewhere for alterations....if possible, buy off the rack. I had multiple, preventable issues with them and altercations that were simply uncalled for.

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
There is one at the Source Mall. Definitly make an appointment if you are going...they are not very nice to you when you just show up.
You don't get top of the line service there but they have a very good selection for the $$$$
The other thing I didn't like was that if your dress is there they try really hard to get you to buy off the rack. You almost have to fight with them to order one for you.
My expereince with BM dresses was better there. I recommend them for BM dresses all the time.

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
I grew up on LI and am getting married on LI, but have been living in Rockland County for the past two years. I went to the one in Spring Valley in Rockland County and they were wonderful. I got my dress, the BM's dresses and the flowergirl dress there. They have always been helpful with everything, each time I went in there. I brought my mom to the one in Westbury so I could try the dress for her, but thought that one was too busy to get any type of customer service.

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
I had a horrible experience at David's Bridal by the source mall. I actually walked out of there and that's not like me at all. They are opening one by the smithhaven mall across from the trader joe's shopping center and circuit city. I am looking forward to them opening. Hopefully they will have better service!

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
At the source mall a few weeks ago I met the manager of the store opening in Lake Grove. She actually seemed very nice, and competent, which is a big change from the rest of the people who work there. They are rude and stupid, but thats where the dress I love is.
Anyway, she told me Lake Grove will be opening mid September. I'm waiting to order my dress and BM dresses from there even though I've had everything picked out for 3 months

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
I did not like them at all. I thought the service was awful. The lady that was heling me was moe interested in helping this other bride who was getinng married before me. Also, the lady told me that it was a good thing I wasn't getting married until 08 b/c I had plenty of time to lose weight!!!! I am a size 12 and you can see from pics in my album I am not enormously overweight. Hopefully the new Smithtown store would be better. My FSIL went to the Westbury location and hated them but she had a very good experience in New Jersey.
Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
I did not have the greatest experiencethere. I made an appt and had to wait for a saleslady to help me before I could pick out dresses, which didn't make sense since she didn't help me choose anything Then when I went to try on she didn't even offer to help me with them, thank god my friend was with me.
A coworker of mine had a better experience and purchased her dress from there. Maybe it was the day, but I didn't get my dress from David's.

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
I knew I didn't want to spend over 1000 on a dress, so I felt that David's was one of my major options. I went there and found my dress. I was rushed b/c they only give you about an hour, including picking the dresses and trying them on. I was pretty much terrified to get my dress altered there from all of the postings on here. But I figured if they messed it up they'd just be ordering me a new dress. I was definitely pleasantl surprised because I went there and they were helpful. The lady who did my alteration suggested a different slip so that the dress would fall just above the floor and I wouldn't need it altered. So I walked out of there only needing a bustle.
As a side note, the store manager or assistant manager, her name is Sandra is a complete female dog. She is so unpleasant and nasty. I wanted to punch her in the face.

Re: Where is David's Bridal and your thoughts on them
my dress was goegeous. it takes a while to get the service you need, but it was the dress i cared about, not being pampered.
i didn't use their alterations but would definitely buy a dress there again as a BM, etc
