Where should I get my invitations?!

Where should I get my invitations?!

I am lost as to where to begin looking for invitations.

-I'm apprehensive about ordering online - I don't know why, but I would like to talk to someone in person and see samples in person - instead of spending $50-100 on samples and getting frustrated with websites.

I went to a printer in my town, and he basically rushed me out with 2 books of invitations - not impressed with that.

I don't necessarily want to just order an invitation out of a book. I want something with a modern flare and looks original.

I guess I should go to a specialized invitation store - like The Writing Place in Stony Brook, or the Invitation Station in Deer Park.

Can anyone give me any references to places in Suffolk that they've gotten invitations from?? And does anyone know the average cost of ordering a set from a specialized place like The Writing Place? (As compared to about $4-500 for a set from online).

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

call Judi at A Bridal Paperie, they are located in Plainview.

They are the printer so no need to pay the middleperson commission. She can probably create anything you like and very reasonable. Quick and very pleasant to work with.

I'm sure you have heard of Tessa. She does really beautiful work. She is a bit pricey, but she can work within your budget (especially if you dont want a pocketfold invitation). FM for her website. Here is a sample of her work:

Thanks

I'll keep the place in Plainview in mind, but I'd really like to stick to Suffolk County, especially if I'll have to make a few trips to approve stuff. I'm in mid Suffolk, on the south shore.

I've never heard of Tessa. I'd really like to keep the budget at no higher than $900. Would Tessa fall in that category?

And I'm not a huge forum board poster, so what does FM stand for?

Thank you!

Re: Where should I get my invitations?!

she'll mail you everything to proof it.

Once you decided what you want, you put a deposit down then she will make a mock up of the text and put the paper together and send it out to you. You can work with her through email if things need changing.

Just thought I'd let you know..I live in Queens, I actually went to pick up the proof but she would have mailed it. You will save hundreds by cutting out the middle person. I saved about $600

$900 is a lot to spend in my opin. Tessa is definitely able to lots of things for much less than that.
