....I was going to go to Michaels but according to my very picky Italian mother those are not the 'good' kind and they will not taste fresh. Ok...so are there different types...where can I get them???

How are you doing? Everything coming together? I'm not sure if these are 'good' - but it is a bulk food store and I think they are probably fresh. They have a bunch of colors too! I never thought people actually ate those thing - but MIke loves them! I can't order them until a short time before our wedding 'cause I know he'll eat them all!
I posted exactly the same question in January - tanbride came to the rescue (see below)! Even I liked the almonds, and I don't like almonds!

Their almonds were the best- soo yummy and authentic!!! Right next to the Riva Grill and across the street from St. Patricks - it's a very small store but the owners are wonderful and have everything - i went on a sat - i think they are closed sundays - good luck!

Tommasina's has the real almonds. You can get them there or try another Greek or Italian favor store. I bought mine with my favors in Astoria. The true almonds are flatter and a little longer unlike the jordan almonds say Michaels carries. Trust me I learned all this from my family while planning my wedding!
