Some of you may remember me picking out and falling in love with a dress a while back. Now my issue is, my mother is buying my dress for me. I love the shop where I tried on the dress, they are very sweet and the service is great, however, we found the dress online for about $300 cheaper. If I order it online will I have to pay an insane amount to get it altered? And if so, should I just go ahead and order it from the shop and have it altered there? What do you ladies think?

Re: Where to buy my dress
Honestly, I think that in the grand scheme of things, $300 is not going to break the bank, so if you're comfortable with the salespeople and seamstresses at the shop I would just go through them so you don't have to worry about shipping and worrying about if they're sending you the right dress, and finding someplace to get it altered, etc. JMO.

Re: Where to buy my dress
Did you try telling them that you found it for a much better price?? Sometimes just those words alone will make them lower theirs.
I found my dress online for a little over $300 less and when I told them they dropped their price by $200.
It can't hurt to ask!

If they wont budge on the price you should def ask around other shops. Most places are negotiable.

Re: Where to buy my dress
call phyllis at Bridal Elegance or email her, she also manages gownfind.com
she will give you her best quote, and seems to always come in a few hundred dollars under the rest.
Heads up though, if you go to her shop, go on a weekday. she doubled the size of her shop and seems very overwhelmed lately!

I had the same issue, we got the best price from phyllis at bridal elegance, you can try calling her before you actually order your dress.

I third that.. alteratons in a seperate place can cost more than the 300 you'd save by buying it online.

Re: Where to buy my dress
Yea lean against ordering things online (for a dress) because if they are not authorized dealer you could be getting a knock off and if they are authorized like RK bridal then you are going to get punished for alterations in the end.
That and you don't get serviced... why don't you price out your dress elsewhere? I mean sometimes you can get a dress even if the shop doesn't have a sample and the bridal shop can come down cheaper if they want your business.
