i haven't gotten my ring independently appraised or insured yet.
can you guys please recommend a place to go that's trustworthy? nassau and/or western suffolk please!
also, what do they charge? what is considered a normal fee?

the jewlery judge in mineola is excellent I have used them and they were recommended to me by a friend who sells jewlery.

I used Jewelry Judge in the Garden City area on Old Country Rd. (I believe) and it depends on the size of your ring. I believe it is $90 for up to 1 carat and then $10 for each additional 1/2 carat. I called all three independent appraisers on LI and got quoted pretty close to the same amount. IMO, Jewelry Judge was the most reputable!! Good Luck!

My guy charged by the size of the rock and it was cheaper because I had two pieces done.
I paid $250 in NYC for my ring and a pair of earrings.
