Dumb question but I have never done this before.... I live in NYC/BROOKLYN. Can any type of shoe get dyed? TIA!

No, they have to be dyeables shoes. Call around to shoe repair shops in your area. The shoe repair by me dyes shoes & it's only $8. They also sell dyables there too. I live in suffolk so it's prob.too far for you.
