I want to start looking for a dress but I really don't know dress brands or any great stores since no one I know has gotten married...
I'm getting married next September, is it too soon to start looking??
I live in Queens but the family and MOH are on Long Island. I want to go to some stores that people suggest, not interested in spending over $1,000 but want something simple and elegant
Any suggestions???

it's never too soon to start shopping around. I got mine from Kleinfelds. But there is Bridal Reflections on LI that is a well known store.

Highly recommend you trying Bridal Garden in NYC...you can get something beautiful for under $1000 - they give the money for the dresses to a women and children's charity...great cause!

you cant beat RK bridal if you want to try on pretty much any dress available... and while you're down in manhattan, also try 34th st macys.. they carry demetrios... thats were i found my dress, but bought elsewhere for a better price

I am seconding RK bridal. They won't give you the same kind of specialized service like another store would, but you will get the best prices and a TON of selection of things under or close to $1000. That's where I got my dress, it was about $1200, and I LOVED it.
