Where to purchase the bra for under the dress, and what kind to get?
My wedding dress is here and I have to schedule my first fitting, but I know I have to have the undergarments first. My dress is more mermaid than ballgown and I am concerned about line where the bra ends showing under my dress. (when I went to get measured for my dress there was a girl having the same issue and she was freaking out!)
My dress is strapless (pics in my album) and I will feel really uncomfortable in it though unless I have some good support so I know I have to get something.
Does anyone have any suggestions of what kind to get, and also where to go? I live in Queens so anywhere in Nassau would be great!!!

doesnt the place that you bought your gown from sell undergarments? That is where i bought mine!

They don't really have a lot at all...I tried on what they had when I bought the gown but I could see the line around my hips where the bra ended.

I know you're on LI, but I really think it's worth it to take a trip to NYC to BraTenders - they honestly were worth it for me!
I bought a picture of my dress and they knew exactly what I needed. The corset I bought offered a lot of support and 'lifting'....
However, they are a little pricey (I spent $100) but it was definitely worth it. I seriously bought five other corsets (trying to save money) from other places, but they did nothing!

the woman at the bridal suite i went to suggested wearing control top stockings over the bottom of the bra. i don't really need it for my dress since you can't see anything, but it may be helpful in your case. hth!

had a strapless gown too (Pic#2).
I actually had both bra and cups sewn in and wore a long-line bra. My seamstress suggested that I have the cups sewn in as well, it keeps the shape of the gown.
I got my bra at the salon I went to (Bridal Reflections), but it was actually a bra that I've seen in Macys, Bloomingdales, etc.
This was mine, it was very comfortable.
Mine was the Felina - Style: 7643 Essential Seamless Hidden Wire Bustier. Price about $70(Pic#1)

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping to avoid a trip in, but if they are that good I might just have to check them out! The last thing I want to be doing is pulling up the front of my dress all night. I almost didn't get strapless because of it!

Not sure where you live but Blum's in Patchogue is where I get all my bras and bathing suits.

I got mine from Great Shapes in Merrick. they also have locations in Woodbury, and Rosyln Heights (on Willis Avenue). I got a long-line bra/corset... it really smooths me out and flattens! I only spent about $60. they were very helpful and helped me try everything on.
Bridal shoppes sell them too but usually they charge a lot more. BraTenders in the city is also great!

I definitely recommend Mary's Corsettiere's (my family owns the store). I sent Janine (Neener) there also and she was very happy with them. They will custom make your bra for you. Just tell them that Melissa sent you!!!! FM me if you want to know anything else!

Ok...so you need a low back bra or bustier. I got mine online for $29!!!! Turns out I looked high and low until I checked out this website. I had visited the store and seen the bridal shoes which were beautiful, but too high for me! Well they have the bra I wanted for such low price. It originally costs $89 but seems like they have a sale. Check them out.... My Glass Slipper

Lots of past brides got their bra there. I had a long line bra from her.

believe it or not, I got my strapless bra in estelles and for like $15! it was so comfortable and even pushed me alittle!

ok, i just looked at ur dress, it looks like u have a sweetheart neckline. what did the bridal salon say was the best bet? im sure they can build you a bra inside....would u want that? im really not sure what to suggest b/c i really never see bras that have sweetheart necklines, so if u get a regular strapless bra, you might see some of the bra sticking of the dress. im not reallt sure, i would definitely call the bridal salon and see what they suggest!
