where to shop for the dress?

where to shop for the dress?

I know my wedding is 2 years away but I have been crazy looking at a few dresses and would like to know where everyone is going for their dress and who they would prefer.

I like Maggie Sotero gowns, Eve of Milady Gowns and also Private Label by G. Just need to know where to go and get the best deal on them.

Thanks

Try Village Bridal in Babylon! They were great!

Re: where to shop for the dress?

I tried dresses at Bridal Reflections Massapequa and they seemed to carry the labels you noted. I had a good experience there as well.
Macys Manhasset was nice as well, I found alot of the Demetrios dresses were similar in style to the Maggies.
I found and purchased my gown at RK bridal. Its not your standard bridal salon, but they have a large selection of gowns from all different designers and their prices are really good. I beleive they even price match.
Good Luck!

I only tried on Maggie dresses and I went to the Bridal Suite in Centereach and thought the amount of dresses they had was amazing.

Re: where to shop for the dress?

If you want the experience, Kleinfeld's carries Maggie Sottero dresses, and while I have heard mixed reviews, I worked with Debbie, who is absolutely wonderful. I had a very limited budget (for Kleinfeld standards!) and she did her best to work with me and find the perfect dress for my body and my tastes...

However, I ended up falling in love with the first dress I tried on (at I time when I wasn't prepared to go dress shopping but my maid of honor urged me to go look at the dresses in the Smithaven Macy's and then eventually urged me to try one on).

In short, I agree that Demetrios has many dresses that are similar in style to Maggie's. And I absolutely fell in love with one of them... <3

I think it really really depends on the consultant that you get. Most of the bad reviews that I got were from people who worked with Rita (at least I am pretty sure that was her name). Debbie was wonderful though, so request her if you can and you will have a wonderful time even if you don't find the dress there (like me :p). Also, they weren't filming or anything that day, so I know that she wasn't 'on her best behavior' for filming or anything like that. :)

Re: where to shop for the dress?

I went to Kleinfelds last Sunday, and while I thought it was going to be the best experiance ever, it was the worst. I need to state that I wear a street size 16/18 but they had maybe 250 dresses for plus size brides, the rest are for thinner brides. There was not one dress I asked for that i found on their website that stated plus size dress in stock. I was utterly disappointed. I worked w Keasha, who is an absolute doll so if you are going to go when you make your appt plse ask to work w her. She tried so hard ot think outside the box for me, but in the end she could only work w what they had in store. I am content w my body, but being at that store and leaving in tears I NEVER felt so discrimated against.

I had a good experiance at Bridal Suite in Bay Shore ask for Tami, she is patient and kind and will listen to your vision when the people you bring w you want to put you in somehting totally different, and Lilettes was wonderful.

HTH and good luck!

Wow. That's terrible! I am so sorry that you had such a poor experience there. They make it seem like they have such a selection of plus size dresses with the tv show... false advertising, jeez!

This! I had similar experiences at several different shops. I was so discouraged. However, when I contacted Bridal Suite in Bay Shore, Tami listened to my issues and asked me what I was looking for. She assured me that they had a large selection of things in sizes that I could actually try on! She wasn't kidding. When I arrived for my appointment, she had several dresses pulled and waiting for me in a dressing room. My dress ended up being one of them. She was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend going there.

Where are you from? I had a fantastic experience with Tiffany at Charisol Bridal Salon in Bayside
I am currently in Queens, I am near Bayside. I will differently try this place out when the time comes.

Thanks

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that, I am in the same size range as you also. I really dont want to go to Klienfields since I know they will not have my size and they are so over priced with things. I do watch say yes to the dress, and I am so over it right now. I have been looking onsite at Bridal Suite in Bay shore and Lilettes I heard great reviews about from previous years.
Thanks so much for your help.

Looks like we are going to be Westbury Manor brides, we are booking in the next two weeks!

I agree. It depends on the consultant! I don't remember the name of my consultant but she was not good! After she THOUGHT my mom was paying for the dress she didn't listen to me. If my mom said she didn't like a dress, that I had JUST picked off the rack, she said yeah that's no good and took it away! I SPECIFICALLY went to Kleinfelds to see one! I wasn't even able to try it on! Her assistant was so sweet though. We were just giving each other looks like what the hell I just specifically picked that dress and the assistant brought it in! Luckily I saw a dress I liked more there. That was soo very annoying but I bit my tongue.

There were so many things that went wrong with that appointment, too long to get into. Luckily the appointment was not at a loss! I DID find my dress there, I just didn't buy from them!!! After my mom and I walked out of Kleinfelds she told me she couldn't stand the old lady consultant as she was not straight forward, rushing and pressuring us just to make a quick sale, so we took our business elsewhere. If it had just been the assistant we would have gone back and given her the sale.

There was nothing 'magical' about my kleinfeld experience! I was just fortunate to see all the dresses I was interested in and found my dress! Now THAT made it worth going there.

Definitely GO but know you might get a terrible consultant.

Go to Renate's in Lindenhurst. I got my Maggie dress there. I tried on a million. I also went to several salons as well. I totally agree that it can depend on your consultant. I knew immediately that even if I found my dress somewhere else I would get it from Donna at Renate's. I love her! Her and her staff are amazing and her prices are a bit lower priced than other places.
