So my church is at 3 and we are doing ceremony only, not a full mass. My church is in Forest Hills, Queens and my rh is at VYC and cocktail hour starts at 7:30. Is there enough time to go someplace in between to take pics and can you recommend somewhere. I heard of planting fields but from their website it looks like they close at 5 so I wouldn't have time.

You could try Old Westbury Gardens or the gazebo in Garden City

Re: where to take pics
How long is the drive from queens to vyc? Assuming vyc=venetian yacht club there is argyle park which many ppl use for wedding photos bc it has a lake and these wrap around stairs and pics come out gorgeous and it is literally 5 minutes from vyc also vyc has the robert moses bridge in the background so I def reccommend getting those shots I saw them on a review on here. I feel like there are many places close to vyc and if you stay close you can use all the time for picss instead of worrying about being latebut im not sure what setting your going for.

Re: where to take pics
Definitely get to VYC before sunset to take pics. However, I would avoid Argyle park at all costs on a weekend. The parking lot is terribly small and I don't think it's as nice as it used to be. It's ok, I just think there are nicer places.
I'm attaching pictures in order:
Northport Harbor is beautiful Sands Point Preserve (requires permit) Captree Fire Island Lighthouse
I dont think she has time to drive up to Northport or Sands Point. Captree is a possibility, but there can be crowds there if they are having some type of tournament or special event.
Argyle Park is very nice IMO.

Re: where to take pics
If she's not having a mass, she will have three and a half hours. From Forest Hills, it's just a little north off the parkways.
I live right near Argyle, I can't even find parking on a weekway. My florist is literally in the parking lot of Argyle, so I've gone there at random hours also.
Just my opinion!!
The parking lot where you see Captree bridge, is never crowded even in the summer evenings. Especially in October, it should be empty. There is a little secret spot most photographers know about, and it's usually empty after 4.
The lighthouse is at RM field 5, good 10 minute walk from the parking lot but amazing photos there!
