where would you spend the extra$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

was thinking of asking the bakery to do a pink velvet cake for the wedding since it matches our color scheme. The baker said it would be an upgrade. Would you bother with the inside? Would you do both?

as awful as it sounds, i never remember the taste of the cake at weddings...im usually too drunk and silly. but they take pics of the outside, lol

If you can than suuuuureeee go ahead and splurge, but really wedding cake is just emmm well, wedding cake lol, but you'll remember what it looks like. So if anything most def splurge on the outside.

If you're hoping for red velvet taste, I wouldn't do it b/c red velvet cake is usually chocolate cake with red dye.....if they're making it pink, I would think they are flavoring it differently than you're used to!

Additionally, I think it's ridic that they consider that an upgrade...no matter how they do it, they're using LESS of something!

I completely agree with this!!!!!!!!!! The funny thing is that the red velvet isn't an upgrade and all they have to do is put less dye in the mix.

I'd argue with them why that's considered an upgrade. If getting red velvet is an upgrade, then that's why pink would be too. But if red velvet isn't, I'd ask them to explain why they think it should cost more. Upgrade the outside then ask them to make the inside pink velvet for no extra charge.

I'm totally in favor of splurging for the outside. My FH knew that I had my dream cake picked out for the longest time, so I think he anticipated, to his dismay, that we'd be splurging on that...I think the inside splurge isnt worth it because from what I've heard, most wedding cakes taste kinda blehh anyway, and all people will really remember is how it looks aesthetically My vote? GO FOR IT!

Depends. How much extra is it? We are having two upgrades - one inside and one outside but the total only comes to $45.

Also, like someone said, did you want it to be a chocolate cake like red velvet is? If so, then don’t do the inside since I doubt it would really be chocolately.
