The Save the Date or the Invite to the Engagement Party? Help Please!!!!

When is your E-Party?? I see your wedding is 9/8/12 (a day after me). Usually people send STD's around a year in advance. I'm assuming your E-Party is sooner, so you'd send your invite first.

My friend actually put her STD's in her E-Party favors.

My E-Party is in April, but we're not doing STD magnets, instead we're doing champagne glasses with 'Save the Date', FH & My Name and our Date on them. Everyone invited to our E-Party is immediate family, BP or close friends so they'd be the ones to receive a STD anyway.

We're pretty sure our E-Party will be June, our family wants us to get out Save the Date's ASAP because we have a lot of family out of state, I just wasn't sure what was supposed to come first..haha. I first thought to send the E-Party invite first, I just wanted to see if I was on the right track and what you ladies suggested.

Traditionally the STDs are sent out a year before hand.

With regard to the engagement party just keep in mind that etiquette says *(not that you have to follow it but alot of people expect it) that if you are invited to the engagement party you are also invited to the wedding. So make sure you really think about that before sending out invitations to an engagement party.

I would not rush anything. You have plenty of time.

Thanks guys! I'll definitely hold out a little while on the save the dates and just concentrate on the E-Part invites.

I got engaged in December 2010, our E-party will be June 2011 and the wedding is April 2012.

We are also planning to make the STDs part of the E-party favor and then mail out the rest. If we can't get them done in time for the party (our e-pic session will be sometime in May) then we will send them out after the e-party, maybe with the thank yous.

Our STDs will go out with less than a year but oh well...still want to do them!!

i just had the eparty and am sending out the STD's at the end of the month.. but EVERYONE was asking for the date so I like the idea of handing them out at the party.

you can do it either way so i'd focus on whats coming up soon

because FH isn't in country, i'm not getting my STDs from our photographer until July (my wedding is may 2012). they're going out after my engagement party invites...but it's still around the year mark so i think anything in that ballpark should be fine! good luck!

My eparty invites will be sent out before the STDs. Our eparty is next month and we will send out the STDs in July.

i had the engagement party first...im sending out my save the dates ...one year before which would be june...i was thinking about giving them out at my engagement party but we decided not to because we kept the e-party smaller than our wedding
